oh fgs you moanign lot

nannyme · 10/06/2006 14:12

Shouldn't be here cos neither of my hands are up!

I love, love, love this weather - wish it was like it ALL the time!

I agree it is a bit of an annoyance when you have to work and you flake out within 5 mins of exertion and that sleep is disturbed but this isn't enough to deter m from my appreciation at all.

My children are knackered at bedtime too - a total bonus Grin

suzywong · 10/06/2006 14:33

Just got your e-mail, will discuss the adoration thing later. Grin

littlerach · 10/06/2006 15:40

hands down i'm afraid.

Could live with this weather all the time, quite easily.

Maybe it's to do with growing up on the tropical climate of bournemouth!!

blueshoes · 10/06/2006 15:51

Grew up in the tropics. Hands up - hate it.

blueshoes · 10/06/2006 15:53

People who live in hotter climes do a lot more to protect themselves from overexposure. The way we embrace this weather is just tempting heatstroke.

SparklyGothKat · 10/06/2006 16:01

I hate this weather, the only good thing it is good for is line drying the washing Grin The kids can come in and out the house as they please, but they are always going on at me about 'push me on the swing, come and jump on the trampoline mummy!!!' Its far to hot to do that, so have been sitting in the shade and reading.

LadyTophamHatt · 10/06/2006 16:53

I absolutley f*cking hate it.

Have a banging head ache, every time I step foot out side I can feel my skin sizzling.

We moved to this house in January, in the freezing winter with a massive conservatory that lost every bit of heat in the house.
Now, just a a week or so in to the good weather I have things melting out there.
3 great big hefty candles have all gone wonky because of the heat!

So not only am I tortured with burning skin outside, it's even hotter indoors in my house.

Give me a cloudy day anyday.....

festiveface · 10/06/2006 17:33

not just me then!
my kids want to play out but 2 seconds out the door and their eyes swell shut. they are jumping around me and i can't stand it grrrrrrrrrrr

I'm not keen.I work outdoors & it is horrible having to do hard physical work for 8.5 hours in this heat.

A customer said to me on Thursday, the hottest day of the year, that I must love my job on days like these.

I replied that it wasn't as great as everyone thought.I am fair skinned,so have to cover myself in factor 60 every couple of hours. The dust & soil stick to the sun cream & it feels foul.To avoid being ripped to shreds by brambles I have to wear heavy duty trousers & long sleeved tops.I worked out in the sun, without a break from 9am until 6.15 on Thursday & was sweat soaked, filthy & sweltering by the end of the day.The only blessing is,at least I don't get hayfever.

tribpot · 10/06/2006 19:47

Me - and I have to say, summer in Southern Sweden was actually worse, plan your exit strategy carefully Franny! I love being able to get out in the garden, not least because it saves a dash through the house every time ds hears a plane taking off that he wants to go outside to see and point at. But I hate sitting in direct sunlight and I fret constantly about ds, despite ongoing Hat Wars (victory to mummy today).

We have just bought a gazebo for the garden, nothing flashy but will create some shade. Which naturally means the rain will start tomorrow and not stop til it's time to snow.

WideWebWitch · 10/06/2006 19:47

I detest it, always have hated the heat. I can't wait for autumn.

KBear · 10/06/2006 20:10

I was in the Highlands of Scotland yesterday where it was a sizzling 27 degrees (according to the car therometer). Averaged 22 degrees all week. It was blissful, fresh air, sun, blue sky. I sat all week in my chair outside the caravan with a glass of wine in my hand and a song in my heart!

Back here in SE London (sob) the heat is different, oppressive and polluted and Dd's hayfever has flared up since we got home too.

I've stayed in most of the day sorting out holiday stuff, too hot for me out there and I'm really looking forward to that commute thing when it's this hot....

SenoraPostrophe · 10/06/2006 20:12

believe it or not, I've always hated the heat too. moving to granada was such a mistake. at least you lot might get some cool days between now and sep.

it was an almost bearable 28 today though (was 39 last week) and we bought a portable air con thingy.

LadyTophamHatt · 10/06/2006 20:16

39 SP!!???

OH....MY....GOD.

I would have died!

SenoraPostrophe · 10/06/2006 20:19

according to our childminder it was. and it did feel like turning on a hairdryer when you openbed the door. it's not usually that hot in june though - something weird going on this year.
