go on, give us your opinions!!

I have both and like them for different reasons.

3 wheeler - got for use from birth and should last till DD is 3 or 4 years. Reasonably large but very hard wearing and sturdy. Extremely light - much more so than even many buggies that are available. Very comfy for DD and easy to manouvere. Great for when walking from apartment into town up those hills! It was expensive but worth every penny. But no, not used it off roading much - not us. Besides main reason for getting this one (other than weight) was the way it looked too - even DH likes pushing it.

Buggy - have a very light, MacLaren Volo. £50 so quite dear for what it is BUT it is the lightest around - very important to me. Was bought for when going on holiday originally and it now lives in the car boot for days out and about. Worst thing is you can't hang many bags on the handles as it'd fall over.

Ooooh, another pushchair thread, how exciting

misdee · 08/02/2004 21:24

i know you need your fix nutty.

Why would anyone want a huge, unnecessary 3- wheeler? If you have a baby get yourself a lie flat rearward facing pushchair and a few slings.
If you have a toddler get a stroller and an ergo baby carrier.
Sorry a bit bossy today

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:27

I very nearly brought that 3 wheeler from asda today but we were in a rush so i didn't. Had another good look at it though and i still love it. It's 59.97 and suitable from 6 months, with raincover and shopping basket. It's a Kingswood one i think. They had another one which was 70.00 but it wasn't very sturdy and not nice to push. The kingswood one is very bouncy and feels like it would last forever. I'm still not sure wether i would want to walk into town all the time thoug. I could keep the buggy i've got now though for emergencies couldn't I ??

Paula71 · 08/02/2004 21:29

Well considering my double buggy for ds twins was the width of a cargo ship (or did it just feel like that?) the fact it was a 3wheeler meant it could turn on a penny! Literally, DH was well impressed we could about turn in a shop (if we could get through the door that is!) and head out without any three-point turns or such.

So top for easy manouverability.

We bought light framed umbrella buggies to take on holiday (cheap and cheerful only £10 from the co-op.) We hardly use them as I can't quite get the hang of trundling along!

Bekki · 08/02/2004 21:30

This is mine. What have you all got, any pics?
don't buy this one though because I haven't seen anyone else with this yet

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:32

Ooooh i like that one. At the moment i have a very plain and boring kingswood buggy. It is my 12th or 13th i think

Bekki · 08/02/2004 21:34

Where onearth do you keep them?

misdee · 08/02/2004 21:35

ok. i have 2 small strollers(graco citisport plus and maclaren triumph) , which i use for car journeys/holidays etc (dd1 sometimes like to go in a buggy and is small for her age). i have an urban detour 3wheeler which i use most days when walking dd1 to nursery as its so much more comfty for dd2 than the stroller as its around that time she has a nap and it lies flat. she is also large for her age and the strollers arent that comfty for her really.
i did have a stroller and a sling when dd2 was a baby, and it was handy, but as she grow quicker than i thought i dragged the 3wheeler out of storage and have never looked back. it has lasted around 3years and in that time have gone thro 4strollers as well as a double buggy which was too heavey to push after a few months. i did think about getting a large graco style buggy, but the steerability on the 3wheeler and the fact it isnt much bigger than the graco's swung it for me.
thats my 2 pence worth.

I think they are pretentious fashion victim accsessory

only my opinion.

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:37

I haven't still got them. Some i sold on and some i gave to charity shops. They weren't all new either.I just can't help it i'm adictted. I do have a winnie the pooh stroller hidden in the cupboard somewhere i think, nothing rwrong with it, i just went off it.

bunnyrabbit · 08/02/2004 21:37

IMHO they both have the pros and cons.

I have a three wheeler/travel system from MotherCare and it also turns on the spot and is extremely easy to push. I am looking for a stroller for travelling as I'm flying to Munich next month.

Bekki · 08/02/2004 21:39

I know what you mean nutcracker. I have an addiction to slings. I have so many I can't remember what I have. I have to hide some of them from my dh! Oh god, must join a support group.

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:39

OOh no Coddy it's not to do with fashion, well not for me anyway. I just get fed up of them. I don't buy particulalry fashionable ones anyway. Just ones that i like. I could be adictted to worse things couldn't i ??

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:41

Have never used a sling. I bought one when pregnant with dd2 but took it back without using it once. I was always worried that i'd trip over whilst carying them (silly i know).

misdee · 08/02/2004 21:42

mine arent for fashion. its about having a buggy suitable. the triumph stays in the car, the citisport is currently in the cupboard as its a spare, and the 3wheeler is old now, not very fashionable at all (tho was quite unusual when i got it) but is used daily and is in the entrance hall.

OP posts:
misdee · 08/02/2004 21:46

i have a lovely kipling sling. apprenetly its suitable for upto 18months but dd2 reached the weight range months ago. she is also too heavey for most buggies and will invalidate my guarentee if she breaks one and the shop find out her weight.

OP posts:
Bekki · 08/02/2004 21:50

Then you need this Misdee I can find a suitable sling/pouch/wraparound/carrier for anyone.
I had an awful incident the other day where my pushchair went skidding down the hill and into the road but ds2 was happily still asleep in his wilkinet carrier. I fell over whilst carrying him btw.

misdee · 08/02/2004 21:53

looks great, but i dont fancy carrying my dd2 around (last weight was around 33-34lb) as my back would kill me. and where would i put my shopping

OP posts:
Bekki · 08/02/2004 21:56

True. Nevermind I'll find someone else to convert. I'm getting a black one of those in a couple of weeks -imported! It will be a change from the blue one. When your not talking about slings to another 'babywearer' you realise just how sad you are.

nutcracker · 08/02/2004 21:57

Bekki - You really are adictted aren't you

Bekki · 08/02/2004 22:00

I think when you start hiding purchases and you try to find different reasons for buying something then yes you're addicted.
I vow that my ella roo wraparound will be my last sling purchase until the next baby.
Lets hope I don't have another baby just so I can buy more slings.

misdee · 08/02/2004 22:02

actually, does anyone know where i can get a large non fleecey cosy toes for my 3 wheeler? dd kicks her blanket off, and gets too sweaty with fleece.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 08/02/2004 22:05

Sorry Misdee, can't help with that one.
I wish i'd bought the bloody 3 wheeler now
