bigbaubleeyes · 17/05/2006 00:40

I thought it would be nice to celebrate all the positive advice people have found useful from MN. I hope this thread will end up containing a summary of some of the best advice covering all topics.

At the moment I can remember (without looking)

Big knickers for after birth
Advice on SPD and my entitlement to physio
How to make play-dough
Whether to buy a bf bra before or after birth (seems silly but the things you get your knickers in a twist about when pg!)
Recipes to cook for freezer when pg
Maternity bag items
Lots of reassurance when I was due to be induced

errrrmmmmmm......wot about everyone else, i bet there are some corkers!!!!! Grin

you can see if there's a wee in it without kicking it over Grin

Aaaaah! I see!

EmmyLou · 18/05/2006 21:55

Hope you enjoyed your makeover, sugarfree. Smile

Countless practical advice. Was really worried about these wierd larvae things that were turning up on my patio recently and Iota was able to reassure me that they were just crane fly larvae.

Ditto other posters re fab recipes.

Interested to read a post about tomato ketchup and that - other than the sugar - it is really quite healthy...

Phil and Ted Explorer tandem buggy was purchased after reading advice on mumsnet with no regrets...

Loads of things really

Quote: 'there are four verses of row, row, row your boat? '

Actually, we go one better and have 5 verses:

  1. Row row row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream.
  1. Row row row your boat, wildly down the stream, if you see a polar bear, don't forget to scream.
  1. Row row row your boat, gently to the shore, if you see a polar bear, don't forget to roar.
  1. Row row row your boat, gently down the river, if you see a polar bear, don't forget to shiver.
  1. Rock rock rock your boat, wildly to and fro, splishety splahsety splishety splahsety, into the water you go! Grin
Melpomene · 18/05/2006 22:54

whoops, verse 2 should say CROCODILE and verse 3 should say LION, I must have polar bears on the brain for some reason Blush

Melpomene · 18/05/2006 22:56

and I spelt 'splashety' wrong - obviously time I went to bed!

fattiemumma · 18/05/2006 23:21

dont post personal/delicate questions unless you have been here for at least a month, have posted 300 timesa dn have argued with at least one regular.

sugarfree · 19/05/2006 16:00

Emmylou,it was great, but I did feel a bit conspicuous and sparkly all day Grin

Row,row row your boat safely back to mummy, tickley, tickley, tickley, tickley, tickley on your tummy!

ggglimpopo · 19/05/2006 16:17

Put the kettle on as soon as you get in - makes you feel as though you have started cooking and gives you options (rice/pasta/veg all need boiling water).

Just doing a bit of mooching around and found this thread, thought I'd resurrect it a year later to see what everyone else had to add...

I will second the malteser tiffin recipe.

As a first time mum to be all of the advice that I have had from here has been invaluable and totally new to me, but very salient for me at the moment was Lulumama's (I think) recommendation of some birthing books (e.g. Active Birth - Janet Balaskas) which have completely changed my outlook on my impending labour.

Pinkveto · 07/06/2007 12:52

when holding your screaming baby imagine your happy smiling baby, smile back to them think good things - helps keep the rising panic at bay, brilliant tip. not sure who posted that but it was quite recent

rikki wraps - genius

Am fairly new to MN so thanks Bumperlicious for resurrecting this. Hooted at the missing "." in Baked Pot's post from 18th May O6 "make sure your newborn son's willy is pointing DOWN If your IKEA pull-out larder shelves keep falling down". Wonder if how that keeps your shelves up???
