As you are all prob aware I follow the Gf routine and am also on her website and this was posted for us to see.

Dear Members,

In response to your emails regarding the statement in The Times Newspaper on 9th May 2006. We would like to confirm that neither Gina or her lawyers have put pressure on Mumsnet regarding the criticism that her methods receive on their forums. Gina was forced to seek legal
advice regarding other very serious issues with Mumsnet, and we will in the near future make a public statement as to her reasons for this. It would appear that some Mumsnet members are demanding a ban of the
Gina Ford name on the site. Gina herself would welcome this, as her forthcoming statement will confirm, she has for very valid reasons, no wish to be associated with the Mumsnet site.

It is interesting isn't it WWW?

I think if it was a namechange MNHQ would have deleted by now!

But OTOH - it just couldn't be true could it????

alexsmum · 11/05/2006 22:25

have just read this thread and anne cloughs statement and there is just one thing i feel i need to say.

feck

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2006 22:25

but she can't post again..if she did then she might explode or something..so how do we know?

morningpaper · 11/05/2006 22:25

Now this is interesting.

Using my geeky-webmonkey secret knowledge, I have checked the Search Engine databases for the ranking of Mumsnet with the query "Gina Ford". The results are as follows:

Google: No matches in first 100 results
Yahoo: Matched: Position: 41
MSN: No matches in first 100 results

SO, who exactly, is going to be confused?

"Because the Gina Ford name is mentioned on a regular basis on your site, and messages posted reaches the google search engines, it would be easy for the general public to assume that this is the type of discussion that Gina herself endorses on a parenting website."

HMM

GamelanCarrier · 11/05/2006 22:26

the truth, ladies, is sometimes stranger than fiction

Dior · 11/05/2006 22:26

BTW Hunker - you taking the piss out of me asking HC how to pronunce something earlier? (Your post of 10:11pm) I asked her because she had typed the word and I thought she might know how to pronounce it, as I had wondered once. I actually felt angry for you being talked about on FA's secret thread, so I sincerely hope you are not being bitchy about me now.

I have re-read the posts prior to that one of yours, and there seems to be no other reason for you to have posted that comment.

snafu · 11/05/2006 22:27

I would imagine she's not allowed to post after 21.29h, zippi. After that she has to go and lie down in a darkened room until exactly 06.45 the next morning.

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2006 22:27

is that keen waah

Dior · 11/05/2006 22:28
Angry
GamelanCarrier · 11/05/2006 22:29

[Dior I honestly don;t think hunker was taking the piss. I have changed my name to include the name of an Indonesian instrument/orchestra, as you do, and she just wanted to know how to pronouce it.)

expatinscotland · 11/05/2006 22:29

Dior and Hunker: TAKE IT OUTSIDE, LADIES!

Unless you're able to throw around some serious sweary words for the benefit of others.

cod · 11/05/2006 22:29

arfy · 11/05/2006 22:32

they would I'm sure and I have been an advocatee of being v.careful so as to avoid probs for MNHQ

But TBH, if the problem is as it appears, I don't think they actually really have a problem at all.

And if it's going to be deleted - well there we go. I've got a copy anyway.

alexsmum · 11/05/2006 22:33

ohmlets not start all that drawing a line under things malarkey.
lets do more swearing!

i laos think justine et al are probabbly pissing themselves laughing too!

HunKeRMunKeR · 11/05/2006 22:33

Dior, calm down - I'm not sure I've even seen a post from you about pronunciation!

I was honestly asking - I was saying it in my head as "game-lan" then thought it might be "gam-uh-lan" so thought I'd ask.

Sorry if I upset you - had absolutely no intention of doing so!

cod · 11/05/2006 22:33

i htink we ould just refrain maybe

arfy · 11/05/2006 22:33

oh I meant to say I've previously said let it die for MNHQ's sake

but do you think this would stand up in court?

I'm still not convinced that the Ann Clough post wasn't a 'joke'.
