Brilliant News.......

Many of you know I posted about DS's friend who had been diagnoed with osteosarcoma of his knee age 15yrs. (He actually had his 16th birthday this month).
After 2 courses of chemotherapy he had his tumour removed today which was a day earlier than expected. I spoke to his dad tonight and he sounded so much better. The tumour has been removed and he has been given an artificial knee which is fantastic (There was a fear that he might need an amputation).
The brilliant thing is he is pain free because he has an epidural that was put in when he was asleep. It is such a relief to know that the cancer has been removed. He still has a road to go but the relief in his Dad's voice made me want to cry. He has to endure 4 more cycles of chemotherapy but thankfully the cancer has been duly binned

Oh Mears, that's great news. The London papers have a huge ad for a series of big-name concerts at the Albert Hall, all in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. It's such a good cause. Hope his recovery continues to go well.

Great News
Lee's family must be so relieved

I'm still waiting to hear about the gig, will let you know as soon as I do. In the meantime don't be put off trying other ways suggested in you original thread, the more the merrier.
But I am still on the case

princesspeahead · 24/01/2004 13:59

wonderful, mears.
a great friend of mine had an osteosarcoma in his jaw bone which was removed in a very tricky operation when he was 16. He also followed that up with a few cycles of chemo, but has been right as rain ever since. He is now 35! Glad they found it and removed it without the need for amputation... what a huge relief for them all.
