I've seen them do lots of it on Blackheath and it always looks great fun. They often have kiting 'meets' there, perhaps he needs to go along and meet some others?

charliecat · 23/04/2006 21:20

he probably will when he gets super expensive kite to show off :)

pmsl - misread, thought it said power knitting Grin I clicked to find out what it was!!!

Depending on DP's weight you will need a huge one to lift him, DH's is 8m and it barely lifts him, mind you he is nearly 20st. It is rather funny watching him being dragged 15m on his belly loseing all the skin off his elbows Grin, not so funny when he gets dragged through dog shit and you have to sit in the car with him on the way home Angry.

2m is ideal for getting used to working with the kite. Sell it on Ebay once he gets good and then get a huge one and have laugh Grin.

Its C-quad. I t really only ever gets him of the ground in high winds, it will drag him in a decent breeze, we always go down the shore. I am fairly heafty but am terrified to use it. I am waiting until DS gets a smaller one.

BIL's is a flexi foil not sure of the size and it will drag him in a strong breeze and he is nearing 20st too.

We watch the teenagers and they jump about a lot, if you want to leave the ground you have to jump about a bit, a small kit won't suddenly lift you off the ground. I secretly want a land board to really make an arse of myself Grin.

Just watched the this thread getting popular without actually opening it up and thinking to myself, you sad sad women making up a hobby called power and stunt knitting.

I apologise profusely.

Skribble · 26/04/2006 00:20

Jura are you talking stunt or power kites?? By they way DH is selling his as he wants a flexifoil like his Brother.

fairyfly · 26/04/2006 00:40

I bet it's really good fun aswell actually, like bingo

kitegirl · 26/04/2006 05:29

ooh a kite thread
we have a house full of them
if it's a foil 2m won't do much apart from teach you the techniques - I was launched once with a 3m but it was a stupidly strong wind, I'm 10 st
what you want to do is get in the water/on snow it's almost as good as knitting Grin

Skribble · 26/04/2006 13:11

Must get DH to actually go on the sand I would love to see him dragged face first through the surf LOL Grin.

Squarer · 26/04/2006 13:23

We have a couple of kites and a big foot sand buggy. Haven't been any where near a beach since having DS though, and when I do I suspect it will to poke around in rock pools.

When I first went flying I got dragged off the sand and face first through some rocks as I forgot to use the brake line Blush [dumbass emoticon] Grin
