I can't be doing with faffy routines and hundreds of different things... just something that'll get rid of spots and make my face look all lovely

Here's a big confession - I'm 28 and I still have spots! Not just tiny little pimples, I'm talking big yellow ones, especially around my jawline, shoulders and on my back. Nothing seemed to work (and I've tried everything believe me) so on Monday and Tuesday I went on a sunbed (I can hear the gasps of horror even now!!) and after just two short sessions my skin has cleared up quite well!

I will admit to being slightly sunburnt in places and I won't be going on again for another couple of weeks, but in the meantime it's left me with a healthy glow and my skin has definately cleared up!

cupcakes · 13/04/2006 20:15

Liz Earle
or
Dr Hauschka

starlover · 13/04/2006 20:21

couldn't do sunbed... am claustrophobic and also wouldn't want the risk of skin cancer/early ageing etc etc
does sound like a good result though!

cupcakes.. where can i buy liz earle stuff? I think that was mentioned on the other thread.

think the other product was dermalogica? or something like that!

Clarins. Fab stuff!

Even better - go for a facial :o

Piffle · 13/04/2006 20:32

water
good wipe off cleanser - eve lom or lancome or any upmarket brands, dior/chanel/haushcka
a good toner - moisturising if dry patches - lancome do a superb one for that skin type
astringent based for oily skin with open pores.
Moisturiser is varied olay is as good as any upmarket brand In My Humble but extensive opinion.
clarins beauty flash balm
chanel vitalumieer foundation (see numerous threads)
If you have sensitive or really flare up skin dermalogia cleansers are awesome I expect the rest of their stuff is too...

starlover · 13/04/2006 20:33

now now... don't go giving me more choice! lol

what I need is something that will help get rid of spots and blackheads and also make the condition of my skin better.. have quite oily skin I think

Get the Hot Cloth Cleanser as a must. I also love the toner and moisturiser (skin repair light).
It is relatively cheap and has done wonders for my skin.

AllieBongo · 13/04/2006 20:38

drink tons of water.. cleanse, tone and moisturise. I love Virgin Vie Vit C range. You can C,T,M in minutes, or wash off a creamy cleanser if you want to feel really clean. If sensitive avoid alcohol in your toner, exfoliate once a week, in the shower so quick and easy. Moisturise, but only use a little. If you chuck too much on it will sit on the surface and clog pores. Cleanse stroking upwards, moisturise downwards.. just a little at a time, you'll feel when your skin's had enough...now breathe...

starlover · 13/04/2006 20:46

oh no,. do i really have to cleanse, tone and moisturise?

isn't there something that'll do it all in one???

OP posts:
AllieBongo · 13/04/2006 20:48

No, No, No.... they all do diff things. It takes 1 min. Slap on cleanser, wipe off with tissue, cotton wool. Sweep over toner with cotton wool, slap on moisturiser.. done!

starlover · 13/04/2006 20:49

yeah but I don't think you realise how lazy I am! lol

AllieBongo · 13/04/2006 20:49

i do it on the bog.. at least you're sitting down

cupcakes · 13/04/2006 21:29

you can get away without toner if you've rinsed well (with cold water). And I only use moisturiser in the day so that's one less thing at night.
The Liz Earle cleanser uses muslin cloths which gently exfoliate - I prefer to use old baby muslins which are now really soft. I think they're the secret to excellent skin.

starlover · 13/04/2006 22:19

i always find if i moisturise that my skin feels even greasier.... maybe i just don't have the right moisuriser though! or maybe it's because i'm not doing the rest of the routine?

might get the liz earle starter pack, that comes with 2 muslins and is only £11.25

'tis bargainicious.

winnie · 13/04/2006 22:23

a vote for Liz Earle here... love her stuff :) (and I have sensitive/oily skin)

starlover · 13/04/2006 22:24

yeah that's the other problem I have... sensitive skin.

tried EVERYTHING as a teenager but most of the stuff like clearasil and that all made my skin sore and red and even spottier!

starlover, I must admit that initially for a couple of days it did get worse before it got better (if that makes sense)but then it was fabulous. However, I do seem to feel hormone related skin outbreaks seem worse and I have concluded it is because my skin is so much better the rest of the time.

Still avoid anything Liz Earle says 'not recommended for sensitive skin' though.

downandout · 13/04/2006 22:33

Liz Earle is fab - i have really bad eczema and it works wonders.

starlover · 13/04/2006 22:40

i'll definitely go for the liz earle then...
am prepared for it to get worse first though!

thanks everyone for the advice Grin
