Which toy has your DD/DS got that makes you cringe everytime they want to play with it?

This thread has been inspired by me finding (hidden away out of sight Wink) the totally ridiculous, useless toy "real" oven that MIL bought for DD.

It was used once and stuffed under a bed until now.

From what I remember it took an hour to cook 2 biscuits and then the safety mechanism meant you couldn't open the oven to get them out until it had cooled down ( so about another 45 mins later) by which time we had all died of boredom .

Everytime DD has mentioned playing with it since I've managed to steer her away from it Smile

pretend hoover-thing that plays AWFUL music when pushed aroundthat DS's godfather gave him, he loves it, we loathe it. I have given it away 3 times and the mothers always manage to make sure little Johnny/Susie etc brings it back.

Spookily its started playing randomly in the dead of night when no ones there to move it. Its possessed. We're doomed.

OddOneOut · 11/04/2006 13:49

ds(5) has a matchbox "rumble" car, that yells "you cant have too much power!!!"
everytime you switch it on.

CHICagoMUM · 11/04/2006 13:54

A golf toy dh got dd from Asda that has no off switch. You hit the ball and it starts playing all sorts of grating tunes shouts "four" several times and just won't shut up for about 5 mins. Then periodically shouts again to remind you it is there.

Sounds as if its the noisy toys that drive you all mad and also that they tend to be toys bought by other people!

ahhhh - a walker/ride on car from fisher price which has really cheesy music (the cookaracher for example!!).....DS thinks its funny to continuosly open and close the bonnet setting this blooming women singing "lets drive somewhere and back again and as we ride we'll count to 10....BUT as my dp keeps reminding me "he's learning!!" Grin Can't wait till my mates have kids and I can pass all these irritaing toys on!!!

iota · 11/04/2006 14:10

Big Billy Bass - courtesy of FIL Angry

the kids love it

cataloguequeen · 11/04/2006 14:20

aaaggghhh my dds have some amazingly annoying toys!!

an evil talking piano thingy that randomly switches on,lol meowmix I know the feeling! and it bloody makes me jump everytime!!
numerous dancing talking singing beeping bears, pinging popping kitchen appliances etc etc

Why did I do this to myself??

Why do other people do this to me?!Angry

When the batteries go the toy is broken Wink

and I have resorted to hiding particularly bad examples(but some how they always find them!!)

and one microwave was so bad I watched my dh jump on it from the stairs kung-fu style!Grin (almost breaking his neck in the process)!!

If you have to buy a gift for a child of parents you can't stand make it noisy, electronic and solar powered= sheer hell!!Grin

cod · 11/04/2006 14:21

"lets rock em and sock em pow po wpow pow"
has never ruan out of abtteries

TinyGang · 11/04/2006 14:25

A Furby. Very creepy and would not shut up. 'I just want to be your friend.' No-one even needed to play with it - it would just start up on it's own in a dark room.

milward · 11/04/2006 14:26

My MIL bought DS one of those annoying electric guitars to keep at her house. However she now hides it every time we visit and I am left trying to explain to DS why he can't have it, or he cunningly finds it and then gets it taken off him and I am left with a stroppy child to placate. Angry Surely it would have been more sensible not to buy it in the first place?

CHICagoMUM · 11/04/2006 14:35

Talking of guitars MIL wants to buy dd the wiggles one, currently advertised on tv. Over my dead body.

wannaBe1974 · 11/04/2006 14:36

a guitar which has buttons and which emits the most ear shattering noises like a rock guitar. It was bought for DS by a "friend" who, ironically, hasn't been in touch since!

And when DS was 6 months old he had a shake and rattle pooh, pooh bear with rattle ahich you shake and pooh sings/dances/talks, he was terrified of it! Bought for him by my mother - she simply refused to believe that he hated it!

wannaBe1974 · 11/04/2006 14:37

Ah bozza me thinks we speak of the same guitar, lol.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/04/2006 14:43

wannaBe1974

Is it a sesame street guitar \link{http://www.epinions.com/kifm-Toys-All-Tyco_Sesame_Street_Elmo_s_Electronic_Rock___Roll_Guitar\Like this with no blimmin off switch}??

Cappucino · 11/04/2006 14:51

dd has some really HIDEOUS dolls that she won't throw away. Things relatives gave us in lemon yellow knitted suits. I did sneak them into the charity bag but she spotted it and started unpacking it....

she also has a Barbie Poodle Parlour which comes with its own shower head and two-tone curly dog...

pooka · 11/04/2006 15:07

wannabe - dd was and still is (now 2.9) of that horrid horrid shakey bear thing (also bought by my MIL). Urrrgh. I loathe dolls/toys that come to life. Freaky.

Milliways · 11/04/2006 15:10

Gross Trumps Grin (all about Farts)

wannaBe1974 · 11/04/2006 15:15

hehehe no it's not that one LadySherlockofLGJ although one looks equally if not more annoying lol.

Bozza · 11/04/2006 15:17

Also DD was bought a Disney Pooh telephone/answerphone thing which says answer phone messages from Piglet, eyore etc in nasty american electronic accents which DOES NOT HAVE AN OFF SWITCH and once it has started goes on for ages. Grrr.

pepperpots · 11/04/2006 15:22

A walking eeyore which sounds uncannily like the guy from the shining
"come on, walk with me" erm..............NO!!!!!

MrsBadger · 11/04/2006 15:26

The screwdriver is your friend. With it you can open battery doors....

zebraz · 11/04/2006 15:45

Paints, the mere word gives me panic attacks. I have to supervise closely or they use heaps, plus the toddler wants to join in and gets angry that we can't mix all the colours together. Hama beads are a close second.

sweetkitty · 11/04/2006 15:56

DD1's dancing Dora doll "we did, we did it, we did it yea!!" I will do it throw it in the bin!!
