Naming a house

Can anyone help me with naming the house I am in the process of buying please?

The official postal address is No. 13 – the house doesn’t actually have a number on it and I noticed on the H.M Land Registry plans it is also numberless.
The current owners tell me that I could apply to the Post Office to have it changed to either 11A or a name – I believe it costs around £85.

I don’t really want to go down the 11A route, but can’t think of a name – I don’t want to do the usual “dunroving” “casablah” or any occupant name tying.

I have looked at the possibility of tying in the Street Name somehow, looking for a link between the Apostle the street is named after (son of Zebedee and Salome) and the number – but alas, there were only 12 Apostles!!

The nearest link I can find between the Apostle and the house location is that he was a fisherman and I live in a seaside town – the house is literally 200metres from the beach.
He is connected with cockle and scallop shells. Patron saint of arthritis and rheumatism if that’s any help!! (doesn’t help me any)

Can any one out there come up with something creative??? Please??

Katandra - song of birds - one aboriginal word.

Rumbalara - meaning rainbow - another aboriginal word

Marrang - sand or beach - again an aboriginal word from sydney area

what about celtic or norman or anglo saxon - middle english words for beach or something like that?

Had looked at Santiago – without the casa – but then thought naming the house after the street would not be right – even if it might look like I own the whole street Mrs Badger Grin

Disagree with purloining words from cultures that have no meaning to us.
Call it Fawn's leap and have done with it.

ha ha hf! Hmm, I think I'd go with painting the door red and calling it The Red House or something. What do the Chinese do, they think 13 is too unlucky to live in don't they?

NewLP · 03/04/2006 13:03

Actually, for some strange reason – probably stranger than feeling odd about No.13, I think the WORD Thirteen is ok. Thanks Twiglett.
Think that settles it for me.
Thanks to everyone else too.
Although, quietly musing the idea of Nafarama….

Cockleshell House?

NewLP · 03/04/2006 13:10

No, but I might put some Cockleshells in the garden to ward off the Judas effect – very in keeping with the 1920’s too…
