Naming a house

Can anyone help me with naming the house I am in the process of buying please?

The official postal address is No. 13 – the house doesn’t actually have a number on it and I noticed on the H.M Land Registry plans it is also numberless.
The current owners tell me that I could apply to the Post Office to have it changed to either 11A or a name – I believe it costs around £85.

I don’t really want to go down the 11A route, but can’t think of a name – I don’t want to do the usual “dunroving” “casablah” or any occupant name tying.

I have looked at the possibility of tying in the Street Name somehow, looking for a link between the Apostle the street is named after (son of Zebedee and Salome) and the number – but alas, there were only 12 Apostles!!

The nearest link I can find between the Apostle and the house location is that he was a fisherman and I live in a seaside town – the house is literally 200metres from the beach.
He is connected with cockle and scallop shells. Patron saint of arthritis and rheumatism if that’s any help!! (doesn’t help me any)

Can any one out there come up with something creative??? Please??

Name your house NewLP - how boring to have street after street of numbers and no names. And how sad that people think it is somehow naff to name a house.

Callisto · 03/04/2006 12:29

But don't name your house 'NewLP'. Wink

Did think about that one Twiglett – not for long though.

tredecim

decim et tres

moondog · 03/04/2006 12:33

Names are naff.
My (old)house was 13 (partly chosen for this reason) nad myparents' old one was 31,but spelt out 'thirty one'. In Welsh.

aw go on call it Kevin and be done

CarolinaMooncup · 03/04/2006 12:39

erm, don't lots and lots of people live in houses numbered 13? Do they all have conspicuously bad luck?

Agree that it is naffissimo to give a numbered house a name (look at us! we're soooo individual!!).

moondog · 03/04/2006 12:40

It's lucky for our family.
That's why I knew our No13 was right.
We had 12 very happy years there.

CarolinaMooncup · 03/04/2006 12:40

alternatively, call it Casa Santiago.

That sounds flash enough that you'd maybe get away with the naffness Wink

NewLP · 03/04/2006 12:40

Hmm – looks a bit like Tracy/Tracey – no offence to any Tracy/Tracey’s out there, ok name for a person, but not a house – just like Kevin back there
