Afternoon. For all those who remember my convo from awhile ago...I was waiting for Debi (the manager of Bizzy Kidz) to confirm whether or not I could copy emails she forwarded me onto here. The emails are between her and Grace Taylor from the DTI concerning what breaches there were. Debi has now told me its ok so here goes. It reads from the bottom upwards:

PLEASE NO BITCHING. Just doin what I said I would do.

From: Taylor Grace (Ms G) ER

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for taking all of this so well.

As I said in my email, although we "approve" of the way you run your business as we are a regulatory authority as opposed to a licensing one, we do not have any power to approve/disprove agencies, we only have powers to regulate or prohibit and prosecute if legislation isnt complied with.

Grace

Hi Grace

I do apologise for that. I thought that as you investigated us and then 'approved' our working practises, then we had been 'approved' by you? Is that not correct?

We have a new site going up anytime now, which has links to the DTI website etc. I will send you a link to it once it is live, so you can check it is all ok.

Many thanks

Debi

    Hi Debbie,

Thank you for getting onto all of this so quickly. Will forward all your amendments to Head Office to close the file.

One last thing - when I wrote to the complainant they sent me an email with a link to your website which has the statement "approved and regulated by the DTI". We are more than happy for you to have the DTI logo on your site and for you to say that you are regulated by the DTI as employment agency standards is a regulatory body. , Although Bizzykidz is a very well run agency and now that you have made the few changes e suggested, fully compliant with the legislation, as there is no longer any licensing we cannot approve or disprove of agencies - could you please remove the word "approved".

Thanks again for making us so welcome during our visit and for dealing with my letter so promptly.

        Thank you for this Grace,

I have now added a statement at the end of the terms which says "Bizzykidz do not offer rebates to clients/hirers"

I have named 'clients' with the hirers as I know we will have many queries from people asking what a 'hirer' is if I don't

        Many thanks

        Have a good weekend

            Hi Debi

Thanks for getting onto this so quickly - sorry if my letter was confusing.

The amendments to your terms with parents are fine as are the procedures you have put in place for recording information etc.

There was 1 other thing I mentioned in my letter to you which needs to be included in your terms to hirers. It is under reg 17 in the letter - your terms should include details of any rebates offered to hirers, if you do not offer rebates (as I remember I dont think you do ) then you only need to include a statement confirming this.

I am attaching a copy of the letter I sent to the complainant following our visit - there are no specifics mentioned it is more or less standard for all complainants who do not wish to be disclosed to the agency.

            Hope this is OK.

                Hi Grace

Apologies, I have had a friend help me read through the letter and has helped me understand a bit better. I therefore attach my final amended terms and conditions, subject to your comments of course

                Many thanks

NotAModelMum · 07/04/2006 17:06

HAve been plucking up courage to post on here and now all the psychopaths have disappeared it seems safe!
DD aged 11mts has been accepted by IK but I very foolishly Blush let her join Models Direct before I knew what a sham they appear to be.
I never see them discussed on here yet I have never found anyone who has had any work from them and I am convinced they are just rip-off merchants.
Can anyone shed any light on Models Direct.

Tiasmummy · 07/04/2006 17:10

Mimi and anybody else who is intrested, latest letter from Grace at the DTI to Debi at Bizzy Kidz. Like I said before I am only doing what I said I would do. Any negative comments are a waste of time. Cheers.

Dear Ms Clark,

Thank you for your correspondence about our recent visit. As we discussed the visit was made following the receipt of complaints against your agency.

During the visit we discussed The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 and we outlined the breaches we found under those regulations.

The breaches in regulation we found under regulations 16 and 17 required that you make some minor changes to the wording of your terms with workers and your terms with hirers, you have already made these changes and your terms now comply with the legislation.

On the matter of exchange of information between workers and hirers under regulation 21 and the recording of that information we discussed the information you need to keep when workers were actually supplied to hirers. In the majority of cases you already had this information but have confirmed that you now have systems in place to provide workers and clients with the required information and to keep records of the information you have provided in all cases.

Although we could not discuss the complaints specifically as the complainants did not wish their identities to be disclosed. The nature of the complaints fell into 2 categories concerning:

a)the amount Bizzykidz charges, and

b)the inability of the agency to produce lists of jobs specific children had been submitted to.

We looked closely at the agency charges and decided that for the services provided the charges were reasonable and therefore comply with the legislation. Secondly as we discussed although you are required to keep specific records for children who have actually secured work there is no legislative requirement for you to record every job you submit a child to.

I hope this clarifies matters for you.

Thank you again for your time and co-operation during our visit and for the swift action you have taken to ensure that you comply with the legislation. If you have any queries about the content of this letter please do not hesitate to telephone me on the number at the top of this letter.

Yours sincerely

Grace Taylor
