We've signed up for a session should be £125 special offer £25. We get an hours photo session 1 free print and a viewing session for that.

It looks really good but expensive, has anyone used them and how much do the photos cost?

There's been lots of discussion on here about Venture. I can't do good searches and links, maybe someone else will help.

basically they are a rip off

Yes we have last year. Venture were outside our local Tescos last year asking people with they would like to enter a draw for a free sitting so DH did. We, amongst many others I'm sure, won this free sitting and a free small photo.
We went along - it was great fun and dds love it all. Lots of natural shots, dds were jumping in the air, doing handstands, whispering into each others ears. Dh and I leaning against the wall in the background. Session lasted about an hour.
A week or so later dh were asked to go back without children to view the shots.
It was very hard choose - they really catch you there. VERY expensive.
Our favourite photo was one of dds together but we were told as it was a family shoot the free photo had to be of the four of us. So, annoyingly, they caught us out there. We ended up buying the picture of dds and getting one of the four of us free. Only small pictures and for one it was about £70!!!!!!!!!!!!

cod · 25/03/2006 11:12

i didnt find it fun
i dont get hwo it was fun

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 11:13

Just be warned - go along and take advantage of the free sitting but also realise, unless you have money to spend, you have to be strong and able to resist buying anymore no matter how lovely they are.

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 11:14

It was fun watching dds having a lovely time

Dior · 25/03/2006 11:15

My SIL did this (don't know if it was Venture, but something similar), and they spent £1000 on one large picture with about 9 small photos in. It is a lovely photo, but they went on to have another child, and then he left her...

LadyTophamHatt · 25/03/2006 11:16

I diddn't ever Cod...bloody PITA pretending to be having fun when the kids are running about screeching.

cuffyj1 · 25/03/2006 11:17

Thanks cod. Think we've made a big mistake by the sounds of it. They collared us in IKEA and sounded so nice. We'll have to be strong when we go then.

Nice photos at the end of it but VERY expensive. A work colleague of DH's had a taster session with them, went back to buy their £125 picture and Venture tried to strong-arm them into buying the set for over £1k Shock. They were very forceful apparently (DH's work colleague is not a woman easily persuaded), in the end they literally had to shout that they didn't want the bloody pictures, no matter how low the APR interest was on their 'easy pay' option.

blueteddy · 25/03/2006 11:26

They are a nightmare company!

cyan · 25/03/2006 11:41

ive seen a few of their pics and think they look nice, but very expensive. JUst soemthing i couldn't afford to fork out for, and tbh i'm such an easy target sometimes would be hopeless at fending them off!

tallmummy · 25/03/2006 12:03

My friends dh was left reeling in shock. They too had a free taster were given a free print but friend then spent over £800 on five photos!!Shock

skerriesmum · 25/03/2006 13:05

The kicker is they're not photos, they're "portraits", everything comes framed and glued down so you can't make copies.
Outrageously expensive!

WideWebWitch · 25/03/2006 13:09

God don't do it, ah, I see Cod has already linked to rantings on the subject. Massive rip off imo, you could get a photographer to do some amazing photos for LOADS less. Or you could Photoshop them yourself, dh did one of dd, I might post it if I can work out how.

snafu · 25/03/2006 13:12

Don't do it. Complete rip-off.

Nice photos but nothing you couldn't recreate with a) decent 'ordinary' photographer and b) Photoshop. For several hundred pounds less...

snafu · 25/03/2006 13:13

Identical x-posts, www Grin

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/03/2006 13:15

We have been getting the portrait place photos done, and even that is a rip-off. £25 for 1 5x7 print.

We stick to the free one, but the last lot we had done we had a £20 off voucher so did buy a 3 pose collection (should have been £95 but down to £75 with voucher)

Will NEVER buy them again though, as many people have said, it is so much cheaper to recreate it yourself. We plan to do this for the next lot. (oh and we are naughty because we scan them into the computer and reprint thme, but hey, who cares!)

WideWebWitch · 25/03/2006 13:19

OK, am going to try to post pic of dd Venturised by dh (we haven't used it like that, he just wanted to show someone a technique)
