I won something on e bay on the 17th march and paid for it by pay pal the next day.I sent an e mail asking if it has been dispatched yet and this was the reply

Hi, if I haven't informed you that it has been posted, then it hasn't. I
always inform buyers when their items have been dispatched, so you will
receive a message from me when it has been posted. Sorry for any
inconvenience, I have the flu at the moment & have only managed to package
items this week, but my partner should be posting some items today & I will
be posting the rest tomorrow, I will let you know whichever day it has been
posted. Best regards.

Yet she has been listing items left right and centre all week long and has received feedback for other items that ended that week .what shall i do?

i had a buyer who sent a cheque to paypal b/c i wouldn't accept any other payment. it took 5 days to clear, that may be what your buyer did, grumpy. i contacted him, however, as soon as, to let him know it would dispatched as soon as the payment cleared, then again when it went out.

i recently purchased an item that is payment by cash or cheque only, but i got in touch w/the seller straightaway.

IME, if you want something by a certain date, and this is true of ANY online shop or auction site, it's best just to go to a real shop.

I don't think her email was rude. The first line could be read that way, but I don't get the impression that it was meant that way. I recently waited a week for an item, but it had free postage so I didn't complain. When it arrived, it was well packaged, and did what it was meant to, so I left positive feedback.

bubblerock · 23/03/2006 20:46

Haven't read whole thread but I would have thought she could have sent an email to let you know it wouldn't be sent straight away because she was ill - just common courtesy isn't it?

Also, a neutral feedback doesn't affect your feedback score, just looks a bit crap.

elliott · 23/03/2006 20:46

gosh this rather puts me off the idea of selling anything on e-bay. I'd reckon I was doing well if I got to the post office within a week...had no idea it was all so cut-throat out there!!

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 20:48

oh, elliott, i won't sell on there anymore after i had a buyer LIE and say a bag she bought wasn't leather - b/c she didn't like it.

it put me off selling on there again. no thanks! i have to put up w/persnickety gits enough already.

clubbing in w/a friend at a carboot sale on sunday instead.

Sorry to all you others but I would be a bit upset by the email that overdraft received. I buy and sell on ebay and havent ever had to wait that long for things from the UK. I sell quite a bit and try to get to the Post Office within 1 day of receving the money in my Pay Pal account, I dont wait until I transfer the money from Pay Pal to my own accounts, if I cant I email the person and apologise and tell them when the item would be posted. I've even done that when the kids have been ill and havent been able to get to the post office. I would probably wait until she gives you postive feedback and either (depending on what you think of the item) give her negative or at least a neutral. If she has been able to list items whilist she has had flu, she is surely able to send you an email to apologise for the delay in sending.

spidermama · 23/03/2006 21:46

I don't think the email is that bad I have to say. It's a bit defensive and clumsy, but this is the thing with ebay. These aren't necessarily busniness people they're ordinary folk selling stuff so they don't have a clue about customer service and why should they?

I give it about two weeks before I start to ask about an item (probably a bit generous, but in the interests of giving people the benefit of the doubt etc).

Socci · 23/03/2006 21:59

In my opinion there is no reason not to have a professional attitude on ebay though, especially from a power-seller. I usually buy from power sellers and they are often very professional and have shown me better customer service than I have ever received buying something from an internet shop (like ELC for example).

getbakainyourjimjams · 23/03/2006 22:02

I'm waiting for an e cheque to clear atm - it's taken aaaaages. I've just emailed the buyer tonight to say that if they want it urgently to let me know (it's only a small item and it seems weird hanging onto it for so long). If I do send it though there'll be no protection for me because the fuinds aren't in my paypal account yet.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2006 22:03

i hate those e-cheques, cuz when i sell something, i want it OUT of my house pronto - it's clutter just blocking my chi and all Wink

getbakainyourjimjams · 23/03/2006 22:24
