How are you getting on with yours? After 4 months I've just about got the hang of it - little bugger! Grin

I don't know. I think I was always worried about losing tampons or forgetting they were there. Or worse, leaking.

DumbledoresGirl · 08/03/2006 10:26

No bozza, I don't like the idea of having to break the suction to get them out. Plus someone once said here that she sometimes felt like she was pulling her insides out when trying to remove a mooncup and I know that feeling only too well from having sex sometimes (sorry if TMI) so I really don't think mooncups are for me.

I just like talking about them and reading people's reactions!

Bozza · 08/03/2006 10:26

Yes agree you have to be happy with the internal thing.

I have had an implant fitted and it has been awful. I have been bleeding nearly all the time with only 2-3 day gaps between. So the mooncup has saved me a fortune. Am thinking about starting a serious advice thread about it.

Nbg · 08/03/2006 10:28

Never thought of the money side of it.
Thats quite a plus I have to say.

Tatties · 08/03/2006 10:28

Can I ask a question while we're here? I have read that using a mooncup can make your period lighter - does anyone know the theory behind this? Has anyone found it to be true?

monkeytrousers · 08/03/2006 10:41

LOL at blackberry jam clots!

Yes, it does cope very well. And not to come over like a slattern, but I change it twice a day for the first two heavier days and then just once at night for the lighter ones.

It is a bit ikky to get out (do it over the loo to stop any spillage), and it takes practice to put it in properly. I've had leaks but no catastrophies.

Don't think it makes your period lighter but it can seem a bit like it as you can actually see how light you are in the later days as it were.

And breaking the suction is easy, you just press down on your pelvic floor (been doing my kegels SW Grin)

I'm quite interested in one but am worried about which size to get, I am over 30 and haven't given birth but am quite small 4"11 which size would you wise mooncup gurus reccommend.
Bozza I had an implant and bled pretty much for about 7 months with one gap month in between + spotting. in the end I went back to FPC and told them, they said give it another month after more bleeding I had it taken out. Good riddence to it too!

Bozza · 08/03/2006 21:29

I would get a small one. I have had this implant in since November and for the first month (until my next period was due) it was OK. Since then I have been bleeding nearly constantly with only maybe 2/3 days without every 3/4 weeks. Not as heavy as my periods (very heavy) would be normally but heavily enough.

giraffeski · 08/03/2006 21:46

fab fab fab they are fab fab fab

(does a little dance)

Tanzie · 08/03/2006 22:17

Bozza, I've had two vaginal births and while I'm quite well aware that things aren't as tight as they once were, with the best will in the world, I couldn't get my hand up there!

QE2 · 08/03/2006 22:24

I am going to get one, I am, I am!

Just worried that if it was very full when you were trying to take it out, that you would squish the sides together and experience something similar to a volcanic eruption. You know how messy it can get when a tampax gets overloaded......

Was wondering whether to experiment/practice with ds3's spare eggcup......?

Mytwopenceworth · 08/03/2006 22:27

Whenever I read one of these mooncup threads and wonder if I'd be able to use one, James Herriot always pops into my mind for some reason.......

jampots · 08/03/2006 22:45

I want it to be fab but unfortuntely spent days getting it up and then hours getting it down again. Was trying to picture myself discreetly removing it in a public lav whilst splayed all over my bathroom floor a few weeks ago.

brimfull · 08/03/2006 22:59

I've had one for about 18mos now and could never go back to using tampons. It takes getting used to .I used to leak all the time with tampons even with super ones(sorry tmi).I can honestly say I've never leaked since.Does that mean you bleed yes?

Worst bit is emptying it in public loo.I use a wet wipe to wipe my hands so as not to gross the general public out.But oth I dont' empty it more than 2/3 times a day when in the heavy days so as I don't work I never really have to empty it when out.

QE2 ,the first few times i did have a volcanic experience but it just takes practise.Get one!

End of advert nowGrin

brimfull · 08/03/2006 23:00

I had a Macbeth type incident with taking mine out over the shower room mat (formerly white) the other day. I seem to have more to catch these days.
