Pooing in the bath...

ds (aged 16 months) poos in the bath at least once a week. Vigorous splashing shortly after an enormous tea just seems to get his bowels going! Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Any bright ideas on getting the poo out of the bath without dropping it all over the bathroom floor? (I just keep a plastic cup in the bathroom but would welcome any clever suggestions)
And just how much disinfectant, hot water etc do you chuck around to clean up afterwards?
And do you rewash the brat?
And his big sister? (who once had to go to the doctor 'cos she cut her wizzle leaping out of hte bath after one of ds's more monumental poos. She's screaming; blood everywhere; baby screaming; poo everywhere. You try explaining that sort of injury to the GP . It goes without saying that I had 2 glasses of wine that evening).
And all the bath toys?
Usual mumsnet practicality and humour would be much appreciated...

My ds3 used to do this quite often - the other three children not at all, or only once or twice. Why do some kids do it frequently and others not at all I wonder?

Anyway, my top tip for removing poo is to use a wet wipe which can be flushed away with poo and, more to the point, won't disintegrate when it comes into contact with bath water, inlike loo paper - I learnt that one the hard way!

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 19:36

did you wash everything afterwards?

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 19:38

Warm water always got my dd going as well ... still does, although these days it's less messy as she can get out of the bath and use the toilet!

Second LM with the use of a wipe - much easier than trying to catch the floater in a cup, and nothing left to clean up after as you just flush it away (but make sure that they're flushable wipes, you don't want to end up with a blocked loo as well). I just wiped the bath around afterwards, unless it was a hugely sloppy one that got everywhere.

BTW ... wizzle????

Yes, I used to empty the bath of water, spary around the pooing site with Dettox, and ditto any toys in the vicinity, fill the bath again (if washing hadn't taken place) and start bath from scratch. If they had been washed already, I just dried them as the poo was never runny and they always got out quickly (or I got the little offender out quickly) so I reckoned they weren't contaminated by it.

Lonelymum · 09/02/2006 19:41

I realise my last post was a bit ambiguous. By "little offender" I meant6 ds3, not the poo. I meant, the other kids got out quickly and I got ds3 (who was too small to do it himself) out quickly too.

Poo expert here! My 2 used to do this quite often! I kept an empty icecream tub in the bathroom for scooping it out then let out the water, rinsed the bath, toys etc clean with the overhead shower and then filled it up with water and afew sterilising tablets! DD excelled herself the day she poohed in the pool at the Newport bay Hotel in Eurodisney! Pool was closed for most of the day... Needed more than a couple of sterilising tablets there!

Pooehy kids got wiped/washed down too!

And only 2 glasses of wine?!! Well done!

DissLocated · 09/02/2006 19:42

Rare occurance for us, fortunatley, and only happened at the end of the bath so re-washing dd wasn't really an issue. I just rinsed with the shower head then filled the bath with hot water, put some borax in and left to soak overnight. Rinsed again with shower the next morning.

Flossam · 09/02/2006 19:43

DS has never done this yet! I thought it was one of those things that just 'dosen't' happen. Obviously not then!

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 19:44

WWB...wizzle is the female equivalent of a willy.

WigWamBam · 09/02/2006 19:44

Yes, I realised that ... just never heard that particular expression before

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 19:58

I did extensive research on the front bottom debate and the best suggestion seemed to be "wizzle" although I have since discovered a reference to a wizzle in Winnie the Pooh (it's a sort of heffalump ). (sorry didn't mean to patronise!)

WigWamBam · 09/02/2006 20:01

The one in WTP is actually a woozle, so at least you haven't got the problem of explaining to dd that her wizzle is actually a sort of heffalump ...

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 20:28

I think that there is one reference to a wizzle too...in the one where they walk round and round the tree...

sorry but pmsl that wod is th op here!

tortoise · 09/02/2006 20:51

Have never had this with any of my 4.Think a cheap/old sieve would be good for any lumps! Think wizzle is a great name for it! Never heard it before!!

Rhubarb · 09/02/2006 20:51

Yes I do it all the time! Oh, this was a question for adults wasn't it?

Flossam · 09/02/2006 20:52

Does no one else see what I mean?

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 21:06

Flossam: did I miss something...?
Rhubarb: farting is a jacuzzi; pooing isn't as romantic

I am being a bit rude. Waving or drowning, does it swim or sink?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/02/2006 21:13

Waving or drowning talking about water related antics.......

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/02/2006 21:15

Now, i have a tip but it does depend on the the firmness of the poo...... If you have an empty bubble bath bottle and squeeze it before placing in the water next to the poo and then release your grip slightly it will suck water into the bottle and any items in the water with it IYSWIM.

Does depend on the size of the bottle neck and the poo though .......

wavingordrowning · 09/02/2006 21:33

In answer to your enquiries; usually sinks, mostly solid (so won't go down the plug hole)though with just enough runny stuff to make the task truly disgusting. Size varies so at least some of it may go into the neck of a bottle (nice idea)! Poo waves; I drown myself in wine
