When did you look in the mirror and think, eww I look old!

Couldn't find a vanity thread.

A friend of mine sent me some photos taken only a couple of years ago and I was quite shocked at how young and glowing I looked(though didn't think so then . I seem to have aged about ten years in two! Maybe having children was not a good idea after all, ha ha!
I think I have the start of crows feet and big old suitcases under my puffy eyes.

Is it all down hill now? I may flog lots of things on e bay and get some back street botox, erm, not kidding.

Anyone else think similar?

I do.
Mates are having their joint 40th party next month and I had to look out old photos of us for a 'slide show'. I look so young and 'lovely'......
The only this is that in 20 years time when I'm fishing out photos for the 60th I'll think I look young now.....am trying not to stress too much and not blame the babies either.
But some mornings.....

Enid · 30/01/2006 13:19

god knows how crap I'll look after the baby is born

each morning when i get ut of the shower i am subjected to seeing myself in the bathroom mirror, i think 'urgh you are fat' i would close my eyes but then i'd trip over the bath and probably knock myself out with my blubber.

Enid - I definitely look worse since the baby arrived. Helpfully he sometimes deposits a layer of baby goo on my face which helps to disguise the wrinkles

meggmoo · 30/01/2006 13:25

Enid have done one and four - don't have a prob with the eyebrows I have to fill mine in they are so dainty - tinting you say?
Anyway, you should be blooming right now. You're not allowed to complain.

no am not blooming

have dermatitis and wrinkles

my eyebrows are darkish but patchy so I think tinting might be good

OK local beauty place is offering three treatments for £45:
eyebrow shape/tint
facial
pedicure
manicure
or
back massage

I think facial, eyebrows and pedicure

For me it was about 6 months ago when I spotted my first grey hairs - I'm only 34!!

I blamed DP, I never had grey hairs before I met him - boy did he get a bollocking!!!!

puddle · 30/01/2006 13:33

I was just thinking this about a work colleague. He seems to have aged 10 years in the last 6 months (he is over 50 and looked absurdly youthful before). Like Ursula Andress in 'She'.

I had two youngsters refusing to believe I am 40 this year and demanding evidence today so am feeling v smug and spritely.

meggmoo · 30/01/2006 13:33

NAAM, you're just like me, I found about three grey hairs last week!

Enid, sounds like a bargain to me. Do you have the dermatitis on your face? Wouldn't go for a facial if you do.

PUDDLE!
Piss off.

Enid · 30/01/2006 13:35

yes I do

I dont think they will do a facial actually. They did in Aveda but it wasnt that great tbh.

puddle · 30/01/2006 13:35

sorry.
Honestly I looked like sh*t before christmas. Have cut out alchohol and am drinking own bodyweight in water daily - has worked miracles.

meggmoo · 30/01/2006 13:37

Hmmm, yes must increase water intake. Good point.

Enid I'd personally go for the back massage. Had lots of them whilst pregnant with ds and really enjoyed feeling so pmapered and soothed.

I don't usually look in the mirror (too scarey!) but I was going for a job interview this morning so I thought I had better have a quick peek. Wish I hadn't bothered! I look old.

Quite like my grey hairs though, my hair is too dark for my skin colour anyway. Just wish my complexion was better (it has always been crap).

Off to drink a couple of pints of water.

Mind you, I have a bladder the size of a gerbil's clutch bag so the exercise running to and from the loo should be beneficial too.

Just before Christmas MIL came down to stay. She said to my DH - and she is phenomenally (?sp) nice and would genuinely cut her own arm off rather than offend us - that it was clear that we were both really tired and run down as we both looked exhausted.

Except...that we weren't and had both been saying a couple of days before that, all things considered (full time jobs, 2 small children, usual seasonal colds etc), how well and spritely we felt.

Kind of put it in perspective that how I look now is as good as it is ever going to ger!
