Okay how many of us use Mooncups?
Just been converted and now have been nicknamed by my OH as Mrs.Bucket!
Seriously though wish I tried them a long time ago.

what the hell is a mooncup???? Do I want to know?

Katemum · 28/01/2006 23:06

Have been mulling it over but am a bit worried that it will be another one of those things that i buy and never use.

QE2 · 28/01/2006 23:07

Why have I never seen these in the shops?

mrspink27 · 28/01/2006 23:10

Katemum, i thought that... but i really havent found a problem using mine, was a bit apprehensive at first and thought i wouldnt get on with it, dh doesnt know , but now want to get evangelical about it to my SIL and friends... dont know how they'll take it though... think i'll just keep quiet about it feels very good to know i wont need to spend oodles of £££ on anything else now!

cathyspam · 28/01/2006 23:10

just googled had no idea there was such a thing! Probably quite a good idea but would be apprehensive to try.

Squarer · 28/01/2006 23:44

Sell it to me then MistressMary - I am getting more and more curious as Mumsnet time goes on....

Why do you wish you had tried them before?

Cost of sanitary products and more trustworty and I don't have to keep changing it every couple of hours or so. And I feel cleaner too.

QE2 - they do keep them hidden away dont they. Boots should put them in the window display.

MistressMary · 28/01/2006 23:52

They dont sell them on their website even.
Can imagine a nice window display of mooncups!

I have to ask, and I can say this in the knowledge that I will have full female solidarity on this issue [straight faced emoticon] - I have had a little trouble, should we say, keeping tampons in place since giving birth, and I hate sanitary towels.

?

Any chance for me, or should I go for sterilisation?

SPARKLER1 · 28/01/2006 23:59

I've just googled too. They are nothing like I picture them to be.
Aren't they messy to remove ad clean???

ShaysMummy · 29/01/2006 00:10

googled. good idea. i would need some encouragement too.
by the way, did you know we pay tax on 'sanitary protection'?!!

UCM · 29/01/2006 00:20

God, when I read this thread I was sure that it was something connected with the Menstral....can't say it, will retch.

As for the Mooncup I remember reading this years ago on here and was horrified. But now I find myself drawn to it as a) no more pads b) no more landfill as I put mine in nappy bags c) don't have a c.

I think I shall buy one. Does it hurt to put in and if you don't put it in properly, does it stay there like a baked bean can in your snatch or what?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 29/01/2006 00:22

How much are they ?????????

SPARKLER1 · 29/01/2006 00:28

I think it was about £17 online

LadySherlockofLGJ · 29/01/2006 00:29

Would almost be worth it, to deny Gordon the VAT......

SPARKLER1 · 29/01/2006 00:31

mooncup

Mytwopenceworth · 29/01/2006 00:35

i wonder how many women go to casualty with mooncup injuries?

those things look lethal.

!!

Squarer · 29/01/2006 07:29

So, erm, did you buy "model A" then MM, having been of the child bearing status?

Squarer · 29/01/2006 07:29

PS love the link MTPW

MistressMary · 29/01/2006 09:40

Hehe, yeah good old A cup here!
They don't hurt to put in and they stay put in. And erm more comfortable than a baked bean can, UCM! [puzzled emoticon].
