Where did you sit/stand?
Were you ok?
Did you have to let the venue know?

I'll be 6 months when I go to see the delightful Take That but I have this awful feeling that someones going to have something to say about it. Don't know why!

Went to see Lionel Ritchie at 7 months, bump loved it!

snowleopard · 27/01/2006 21:55

I went to see a loud local indie-type band when I was 40+4 and went into labour that night, which I do put down to DS realising there was some fun to be had outside. I went to gigs throughout pregnancy and someone always found me a chair, people always made sure I had a drink and never had to struggle at the bar, it was great. Great for DP too as I was off the alcohol and always fit to drive home.

From experience I would say be very careful in the venues the floors can get very slippy and warm. Some get so warm that the condensation actually drips from the ceiling. Not likely at Take That but I would say its pretty stupid to go anywhere near mosh pits, I have seen to many bystanders get accidently injured or just knocked about. Quite often their are restrictions on taking bottles into the venue so if it is not obvious you are pregnant get a letter from your GP or midwife so you can take water in with you.

Take that is normaly all seated, I take it you do have seats, I would get in touch with the venue to check the location of them and if right in front of the speakers ask to be moved. Most venues will accomadate you on the wheelchair ramp if you ask in advance, don't assume they will let you on though as spaces are limited but it is a good option if its a standing concert.

If concerts are standing and seating and you don't have a seat speak to the security/ stewards, often the will have loads of people who will quite happily swap onto the floor.

First aid will be happy to give you water and should have seats so you can take a rest.

At 6 mths I would say you can handle a Take That concert, perhaps still take ear plugs . Cuts out the screaming and you can actually hear the music.

jasper · 27/01/2006 23:46

yes. Hated it

spacecadet · 28/01/2006 09:30

yes, went to see a local band at 7 months with dd1.
smashing pumpkins at 5 months with ds1 and also manic street preachers and world party at 6 months with ds1.

jasper · 28/01/2006 12:08

space cadet if the band in question was world party I would go during labour.

NBG Have just seen that it is Take That. GO!

I went to Bjorn Again when 7 months pg. Not good.

sophy · 28/01/2006 14:37

Jools Holland at Shepherds Bush Empire when 7 months pg. No seats and was very uncomfortable.

webwoman05 · 28/01/2006 20:51

Went to see Oasis at the Astoria last year when I was 7 months pregnant and had a fab time! Got shown up to the VIP area and had a brilliant view and a seat too! The bouncers were so nice and considerate and made space for me to squeeze through the crowd (very packed standing venue!)

The baby loved the music and moved round everytime he heard Lyla on the radio following the gig!

When we arrived at the venue my husband asked one of the bouncers where the safest place for me to stand and that's when they showed us to the VIP area. There were a couple of other pregnant ladies there too!

Have fun at Take That! The baby will love it!

spiker · 28/01/2006 22:16

I saw White Stripes at Brixton Academy when I was 39 weeks. The staff were fine and made sure I had a seat. The major problem was squeezing along the guest bar. Like being on the tube at rush hour - in a crowd nobody can see that you're pregnant...

But at 6 months you should be fine. It won't hurt to call in advance to see if you can get special treatment - they certainly won't stop you going.

Enjoy!

I went to see Robbie Williams when I was about 7 months pregnant with ds1. Then I went to see "Bear in the Big Blue House" 3 days before I gave birth to my darling twins!!!!!

fullmoonfiend · 29/01/2006 13:57

went to a festival at 7 months - very hot but managed to look after myself fine. Everyone's different tho. I was having a very easy pg but was HUGE! The only prob I had was needing my sleep and tho in a family field, some wrs in the tent next door decided to have an all-nighter with big bass sounds til early hours. I ended up wobbling out in just my knickers and bra and - very hormonally - screaming at them. Couldn't belived noone else had complained to them. They were very taken aback and sheepish and the next day, several families around us came and congratulated me on my 'performance'!

Kateaw · 29/01/2006 15:56

Saw Meatloaf when I was about four months pregnant. It was fabulous. I frightened the woman in front of us by tripping over something as we were inching our way to our seats. She made some joke about being drunk and I said that I couldn't drink as I was pregnant. She kept throwing me concerned glances - bless her

MaryBS · 29/01/2006 16:55

I went to see Meatloaf when I was about 6-7 months pregnant, must be something about him that appeals

I had a seat up the side, fairly close to the stage. I was fine - never thought of letting the venue know!

My poor daughter kept kicking me when it got loud, it was a pretty weird feeling.

I also used to go to watch the ice hockey, which had similar levels of noise, and got kicked to bits then too!

4blue1pink · 29/01/2006 16:57

i had standing tickets to david gray at sheffield arena for december - bought them in feb ...baby came Jan...

The police let us park in disabled when they saw my bump - everyone was being herded miles away - and then my standing ticket was changed to seated on request!

mogwai · 29/01/2006 20:42

I went to see U2 at 39 weeks last year. I rang the venue in advance and they arranged a special pass for me so that I could use the disabled access point and the lift.

They made it clear they didn't think I should be going really.

I also asked the manager of the ASDA store opposite the stadium whether he would mind me parking there for the day. He gave me a staff parking permit with the relevant date stamped on, so I didn't have to walk far to the stadium (car would otherwise have been clamped).

I was nervous but it was fantastic and I have lots of photos to show my daughter when she's older!

Cam · 29/01/2006 20:56

My mother went to see Cliff Richard in 1958 with the RAF wives club when she was 9 months pg with my sister. I think it affected my sister - she's always had terrible taste in music

Pip · 29/01/2006 21:03

I followed a whole Soft Cell tour when I was about 6 months pregnant. Managed to get to the front for nearly every gig though. Had low blood sugar levels at the time so used to take Lucozade and chocolate with me.

I don´t think you should miss out. Go for it.

sammac · 29/01/2006 21:09

Saw U2 when about 6 months with dd, then went to Robbie when about 5 months with ds. Luckily at that stage not needing to dash for the loo every 5 minutes.

Kabsy · 29/01/2006 21:49

Went to see the Manic Street Preachers at 8 months prg. Very loud! Strangely DD stayed very still throughout!! Took my little (6ft 2"!!) brother and his stocky mates with me to walk ahead to the side of me to potect my large belly - think they felt responsible and I felt safe! Every thing was fine. Reading the rest of thread think in I'd make the most of it and insist on a seat - front row of course!! Have fun! Maybe prg knickers aren't the best to throw on stage!? -

bonkerz · 29/01/2006 21:54

Went to see Franz Ferdinand and The Editors when i was 36 weeks pregnant! My DD was very wriggly and i did have braxton hicks for almost 2 hours after!! Luckily had had the foresight to book end of ailse seats that were right by the toilets so was fine!

TaiTai · 30/01/2006 10:04

Sorry to digress, but bonkerz, what were the Editors like live? I bought DH tickets to see them for Christmas so we're going on 22nd Feb (and no, no bump is coming along).

Thell · 30/01/2006 12:52

I went to see the League of Gentlemen Pantomime at the Hammersmith Apollo this Dec, with an obvious 7 mth bump - our usher directed us to our row, then a few moments later came back and offered to ask everyone to move in order to give us seats at the end of the row! As it worked out he didn't have to. I was quite uncomfortable, as DH had dragged me round Hammersmith for an hour beforehand.

I went to a classical concert last night, now 8 mths, and found it more comfortable sitting still than I did a month ago! None of the backaches etc like last time.

I'm sure you'll have a great time at Take That - just make sure you've not overdone it before you go

bonkerz · 30/01/2006 13:25

tai tai: Editors were really good. Im not the best fan of that type of music but they were very similar to Franz and very good live. Was very impressed considering they were the support act! Have a good time.

TaiTai · 30/01/2006 23:34

Thanks, bonkerz. I've heard nothing but glowing reports about the Editors live. I'm looking forward to it, my first night-time gig in about a year-and-a-half!

Thread hijack now over.

Hope you have a good time at Take That. I met Mark Owen a few times just after the band split up because I was friends at college with his best friend from school. Mark was extremely lovely. Oh, and he kissed me on the cheek! And yes, I have washed it since.
