Am I the only one who irons babygros? Sad but true!

I spend most of my laundry time, finding ways to avoid ironing anything
And I usually succeed...
You're weird

Thomcat · 23/01/2006 20:25

I i only get the iron out when we have a wedding to go to.

Why on earth would you iron a babygro????? Or pants, or socks. I take it to the other extreme i admit but underwear and babygros, that sort of behavious has to stop!

bundy · 23/01/2006 21:21

I hardly iron anything, and my new, 21st century excuse is: it's not carbon neutral

divamummy · 23/01/2006 22:56

i iron babygros, muslin squares, tights, socks
whats wrong? they look nice when ironed. i dont iron my underwear, though. and tea towels

everything dd`s must ironed,
starshaker will know soon ironed baby tights

dinny · 23/01/2006 22:58

I used to iron babygros, muslins, linen until I had my second child. now I only really iron essential outerwear stuff. thank God.

Mytwopenceworth · 23/01/2006 22:58

.

hunkermunker · 23/01/2006 23:00

I iron nothing.

bundy · 23/01/2006 23:02

hurrah

Beetroot · 23/01/2006 23:03

It hurts though

colditz · 23/01/2006 23:03

This is my method of ironing.

I take clothes out of the tumbler, and fold them up on a kitchen chair next to the radiator. Within a few loads, there is both heat and pressure acting on the clothes, as the weight flattens the clothes in the pile.

Therefore, they have been ironed.

Hattie05 · 23/01/2006 23:19

I always ironed dd's babygrows! never even considered it to be anal until i read this thread .

I still iron all clothes, although i don't do the socks or underwear. I must admit though its tempting cos neat flat socks are quite appealing to put on in the morning. I might just take up ironing socks!

notasheep · 23/01/2006 23:37

life is too short!

JonesTheSteam · 23/01/2006 23:41

My mum irons everything - even bras - I think her motto is "If it doesn't move, iron it!!!!!"

I followed in her footsteps for a while (though I never ironed bras!), but I have now stopped ironing socks, pants, tea towels, towels and sheets.

I am one of these bizarre people who actually enjoy ironing though - especially if there's something good on the telly whilst I'm doing it!!

threelittlebabies · 23/01/2006 23:47

I do, probably because they sit at a bottom of a huge pile getting creased before I snap and tackle the lot! Think I mainly iron out of shame, because my mum is one who irons EVERYTHING and tuts should I dress one of the children in something unironed. But then, as she does tend to help me out with it when she is here I don't mind!

MrsSpoon · 23/01/2006 23:48

I did iron DS2's babygros (not DS1 as I could barely function when he was little nevermind iron babygros, in all the video footage of him as a baby there is a mountain of ironing, about 4 ft high, in the background). I blame a friend for getting me to iron the babygros as she visited when DS2 was very little and did all my ironing (she was an absolute star), including all DS2's little babygros and vests, I just thought they looked and felt so much nicer so kept on doing it. I iron the kids pjs too, makes them lovely, crisp and fresh. I simply must iron tea towels, it sort of sterilises them, IMO.

lou33 · 24/01/2006 00:12

I thought this was about sex

spacedonkey · 24/01/2006 00:14
Grin
PrincessPeaHead · 24/01/2006 00:19

tea towels MUST be ironed. otherwise they just look dirty and crumpled even when new.
And they don't hang nicely

bobbybobbobbingalong · 24/01/2006 00:26

Another way in which hunker and I are the same - ironing. Why? Maybe the odd shirt, but a good breeze and shaking them before you hang on the line and they are fine. if you are slightly damp from a shower they sort of iron themselves.

notasheep · 24/01/2006 22:08

Princesspea-do you line your tea towels up like that man in Sleeping with the enemy?

mazzystar · 24/01/2006 22:13

i iron babygrows and vests, fondly imagining makes them feel softer and more comfy

i like ironing

hate all other housework though

Piggiesmum · 24/01/2006 23:35

I'm a complete saddo, I iron everything, although it has to sit on a chair for a few weeks before it gets done in a once per month ironing blitz
