Help a mum who lost a son at Hillsborough

Anne Williams lost her son Kevin at Hillsborough.

The coroner in the original Hillsborough inquest ruled that all victims were dead by 3.15 so the authorities' actions after this were irrelevant.

Reliable witnesses have confirmed that Kevin Williams was alive and talking long after this - the Special Constable who sat with him heard him ask for his mum before he died at around 4.

Independent pathologists who reviewed the evidence believe that intubation might have saved him. But there was no medical help available. A fleet of ambulances waiting outside the ground was denied access to the pitch by the police.

More info here. (sorry, it's the Mail Blush )

Kevin was 15. His mum just wants to know why he was left to die without medical help. It's really easy to sign this petition and give her a bit of support.

(And I am actually shaking with fear at the thought of starting a thread in AIBU. Shock )

Done

And MNHQ please don't delete this - as you did with my brain tumour awareness petition - with the excuse that you can't allow petitions because you'd be over run with requests if you did. I have never seen a frivolous petition request on here. Ever.

Sudaname · 08/01/2012 22:24

Me too.

FranticBanana · 08/01/2012 22:29

Thank you everyone.

Rudolph , I'm not Anne Williams, nor do I know her. I knew people at Hillsborough (who survived) and I just think, "There but the grace of God..."

Sorry, I hadn't realised that MNHQ were likely to delete this, but I guess I can understand their logic. At least if it goes "poof" there will be a few more signatures than there were.

Done. I remember this Mums story. I am a massive football fan but the events of that day will live in my memory forever. Only a few months ago I went to watch Man City v Man Utd....I stood in the City end and when Utd scored I was petrified because, even though it is an all seater stadium, people seemed to be pushing forwards and glass bottles were being thrown....justice for the Hillsborough dead is so very long overdue.

Heartbreaking - for them all. It's a shocking cover up. FGS! The people in charge are all gone from that life now so just let it go. Open up the files. I think we all accept mistakes were made, most probably because nothing like that was ever imagined, it was a different world. In today's world it may be shocking, and even looking back there will be things that will show that terrible decisions were made, but the level of secrecy of this makes everyone believe the worst. Unless it was a deliberate Government plot (which, even with the most active imagination, it wasn't) doesn't warrant this level of secrecy.

Thanks to the people who signed last night, and shameless bump for anyone else who might be interested in signing.

It' s not a day I'll ever forget either, Shabba. I was working in Germany at the time so didn't go as I would have done in previous seasons, but my dad and brother had tickets. I tuned into Forces radio to catch the result and couldn't believe what I was hearing. No Internet or mobile phones in those days, and all telephone lines to Liverpool were engaged for hours. It was 2 in the morning before I finally got through to hear they were OK, though other friends were still unaccounted for at that time - a close friend's parents got as far as the polaroid stage Sad before their lad turned up safe.

Why, 20 years on, the files can't be opened is beyond me. There are so many families who deserve to know the truth.

Done it and given it a helpful bump.
IIWY, and feeling cheeky, I'd repost it in a busier place. I honestly can't imagine why MNHQ would take it down or move it to somewhere else.

Sevenfold · 11/01/2012 10:16

Signed even though I detest petitions on mn

nursenic · 11/01/2012 10:17

Have signed.

One of my best friends was at this match as a supporter and ex citizen of Nottingham. He still cannot speak of what he saw. He just starts crying.

angelpantser · 11/01/2012 10:18

Done. Good luck to her.

Sudaname · 11/01/2012 10:44

Have already signed - but just wondering Frankie what is the 'polaroid' stage. So glad your family got out ok but things like this l dont think anyone comes out mentally unscathed as your and nursensics posts show quite clearly.

A schoolfriend of mines younger sister died in the Droppin Well pub bombing in NI and l saw first hand the agony of the family and friends waiting for news - trying to get through to someone etc - both sisters were there but my friend survived. l am sure that even had both their daughters been ok none of them would still ever forget it. As you rightly say there wasnt as many forms of communication technology in those days either.

Sevenfold · 11/01/2012 10:47

have shared if on fb.
I feel so sad whenever I read anything about Hillsborough
