hmmmmmm, drive too close to your rear end, brake unneccessarily, talk very loudly, have funny accents, but are quite friendly really. BUT what do you do? We haven't seen any families around, no kiddies in pubs which makes us feel a bit guilty! Where do you all go to? And why do most of your pubs have really shite names like "The Shoulder of Lamb" eh?????

Vests are quite fabulous, HC. You can get silky strappy ones. Or pointelle ones like mine and Pruni's (I'm guessing here, not actually having intimate acquaintance with Pruni's vest unlike some people obviously, but that's the Jigsaw sort). I can bore on for hours on the subject but will spare you.

Janh · 28/12/2005 22:04

OMG, they still make them?????

Tanzie · 28/12/2005 22:04

Errr...how old are you, Harpsi??

Bozza · 28/12/2005 22:04

I have been known to come to an agreement with DH that we will both leave our socks on for the act.

Rhubarb · 28/12/2005 22:04

You lot actually wear winter clothes in winter! What a laff! It's like bloody summer down here! And what's with all the thatched roofs? Don't you know it's a fire hazard?

We have Black Sheep, Pendle Witches, Boddingtons, Theakstons, Landlord, Jenningtons, etc etc, and what do you lot have? Brakspear's? What kind of name is that then?

Pruni - was he wearing his long johns too?

So are these actual vests, as in underwear, or a strappy top that you could wear with a skirt and flipflops in summer?

WideWebWitch · 28/12/2005 22:05

I'm so childish, I am sitting on the sofa, wrapped in a duvet, sniggering at this thread.

Tanzie · 28/12/2005 22:05

Do you have to have big knickers to tuck your vest into, MI, so that you don't get a cold in your kidneys?

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 28/12/2005 22:05

M&S are the standard suppliers of vests. I am currently wearing a rather nice one that could pass as a t-shirt in the summer if you ignored the built in bust support. You need them quite long so that you can tuck them right down into your trousers/tights/skirt waistband etc (though not your knickers unless you are under the age of 6) to be sure of thoroughly excluding draughts.

harpsichordcarrier · 28/12/2005 22:06

oh no! never with the socks on, really...

motherinferior · 28/12/2005 22:07

Tanzie, even I have my limits. But you have to remember that I am only five foot tall, so my kidneys are adequately covered by average vestitude.

I am an expert on woolly socks, too. I get cold, dammit. My father's Scandinavian heritage extends only to my colouring - I have my Indian mother's lack of tolerance for the cold.

Look who won the Winter Ale championships!

Brakspear's is in Henley-on-Thames. It's proper beer.

I'll admit to wearing thermal long johns and vest when I lived in Poland and it was minus 20 outside (and about plus thirty inside due to town central heating which couldn't be turned off or down).

Yeah and the silver and bronze awards went to southern breweries!

WideWebWitch · 28/12/2005 22:08

Silver award was won by Somerset though Rhubarb!

Tanzie · 28/12/2005 22:09

But I didn't shag in them.

They weren't the ones with the strategically placed hole for a quickie.

very thoughtful people, Damart...

Janh · 28/12/2005 22:10

Tanzie, it isn't in Henley any more I just found out

Tanzie · 28/12/2005 22:10

Lived in Warsaw for about 4 years, travelled all over.

Noooooooooooooooooooo - where has it gone then??? Brakspears and their pubs (in particular the 2 Brewers in Henley - since closed, I think) were part of my wild and mis-spent yoof.

Rhubarb · 28/12/2005 22:12
