after someone linked to them the other day i ordered some stuff... not particularly for christmas, just general stuff.
I placed my order Friday evening and was imagining a post-christmas delivery, but stuff turned up yesterday morning!

I ventured into Argos in Croydon today (crazy, I know). It was hideous, all around me people were very stressed, shouting and complaining. Well the bloke who served me was lovely, polite friendly and calm. He made me a handle for my bookshelves and he even rang me a cab

AMAZON - everything arrived when it should have done (though did quick delivery rather than grouping everything together).
HAMLEYS - everything arrived when it said
SOCCERBOX - as above with printing on the shirt as I wanted.

Have had bad experiences with amazon in the past so was pleasantly surprised that everything turned out OK.

foxinsocks · 21/12/2005 19:32

oh and CURIOUS MINDS despite me only ordering yesterday, confirmed that they had the item in stock and sent it out 1st class today so I could get it in time for Xmas

SnowsyPosey · 21/12/2005 19:32

Amazon - dh ordered stuff for me and it arrived dead quick,

Swatchstore.com (I think) - dh ordered me a watch last week and it arrived the next day. Marvellous!

anoushka · 21/12/2005 23:27

well i was sending four gifts to ireland and i used the disney store the were great i done it over the phone the were all in stock they post to the whole of europe unlimited weight for just 7.50 incredible if you have to post and thing internationaly it can be so expencive and i must say i done it in late nov. but they quote five working days fab and i use boden fab as usial

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 23:32

i have had no problems this year. boden brilliant, laredoute v good, argos excellant, toys r us good, hawkins bazaar, iwoot, letterbox, ebay sellers all brilliant.

MARINAtivityPlay · 21/12/2005 23:39

Eve Lom sent me some stuff the next day - unfortunately they are way too expensive and niche for me to shop for anyone apart from my stylish and nit-picking dsis
My Boden stuff arrived the next day too, but I can't really present a 2 year old with a gigantic striped duffle coat bought for her to "grow into"
I am off to heap scorn on amazon on the other thread. They let me down so badly I have ground my teeth to stumps...

Hallgerda · 22/12/2005 07:07

Mail Order Express came up with the goods quickly (and had an item Amazon said they couldn't deliver before Christmas). Amazon did fine on the Christmas presents (but I'm still waiting for a textbook I ordered back in September. They keep sending me messages putting the delivery date still further into the long grass...)

Glitterygook · 22/12/2005 08:17

Good for me have been

Boots
Ragdoll (for Brum stuff)
ELC
Boden
Amazon - erm, sent out the VTECH console fine but then said they couldn't send the games (got them from ELC but they were more expensive)

harpsiheraldangelssing · 22/12/2005 09:09

book people have been fab
M&S for flowers
amazon (loads better than last year)

snowydelight · 22/12/2005 09:16

Amazon have been fantastic. I kept finding more things I wanted so I got eight orders in all - all have arrived promtly and the very sensible delivery people just leave parcels in the lobby if I'm out. Tridias (toys) were also super-prompt.

gothicsanta · 22/12/2005 09:27

Toysrus

were fab in getting goods to us adn nicely packaged

Feistybird · 22/12/2005 10:25

TheEntertainer.com
John Lewis

Feistybird · 22/12/2005 10:26

and Woolworths

serenitysaysHoHoHo · 22/12/2005 10:30

Argos have been great for us, arrived exactly when they said - in fact I think we must be near a depot as all our orders turn up at 7.30am (despite 8-6 delivery!).

flashingnose · 22/12/2005 10:35

Ocado have just delivered on time and with nothing missing .

Amazon have been excellent for me - sympathies to those who have had problems.

Lmccrean · 22/12/2005 15:44

Arujo - very fast response to emails and calls. And I ordered 3pm Monday, and stuff was delivered on Wednesday morning.

CDWOW - arrived within 2 days of ordering (from hong kong) even though i got a delayed notice from them regarding one of the cds?! And got a discount code for next order in package too.

Amazon - even with super saver delivery stuff arrived within 4 days of ordering

Miss Selfridge and Freemans - prob great for mainland, but it takes 16 days to get to me in N. Ireland!

Wordsmith · 22/12/2005 15:48

Flashingnose - agree about Ocado. Mine has just been delivered, all on time and in order. I usually use Tesco.com now (cheaper) but wouldn't trust them for Christmas.

Oh, I tell a small lie - in today's Ocado delivery, three eggs in the box of 6 were broken. DH called the helpline and they arranged a refund plus a £5 goddwill gesture.

Letterbox took ages to deliver personalised goods but got then just in time in the end.

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 22/12/2005 15:50

ooo pleased to see Play.com in this list several times.....just out of interest - how long did it take from ordering, to receiving your stuff with them?? The stuff I ordered said dispatch within 24hrs....
