Cons

DH doesn't want one
Don't have enough money
Don't do pregnancy well (get weird ailments)
Have 2 angel children, no way number 3 will be too
I'm no spring chicken
I put on a stone with every child
We have a chance of getting our lives back in a couple of years
Holidays, cars etc built around families of 4

Pros

I really really want another one

HELP...

lol probably not!!!!

But at least that little devil isn't sitting on my shoulder anymore whispering 'Go on, one more, you know you want one'!!! (Thank God!!! )

wewishyouaClaryChristmas · 12/12/2005 22:52

Twiglett! I thought I saw you sayign you would certainly have no more (because of PG ailments).
Weeeeeel
It's tricky TBH if DH says no. My DH wanted 4 really but we decided 3 was enough for reasons to do with my age/space in house/PGs gone so well it would be tempting fate (that's my real reason).
Money - pah! it will stretch. 3 may also be angel child, anyway a different child, how exciting that is.
Cars and hols - no prob with 5, honestly. Now 6, that is gettign tricky (have to buy a bus etc)
3 is fab, the dynamic with my 3 is fascinating, eg the older 2 play together, the younger 2 play together and the boys (1 and 3) play together, all in different ways. Not sure how that works if you have boy boy girl tho.
GDG, I quite like that "don't know how you manage"hing, makes me feel all clever and organised (I am neither really).

secur, don't say that.
I've have realised that I'm one of those woman that will nevr feel happy that my child bearing days are over.
I hate the thought that DS3 will be my last baby. I think he will be though, I can't imagine Dh ever changing his mind again but I'd love another one.

Bliemy QE...does it matter?

Just have one, you probably won't even notice

QueensSpeechEagle · 12/12/2005 23:17

LadyT - I'm trying to work out whether that should be taken as an aside at the competence of my pelvic floor or not.....hhmmmmm.

Bit difficult for me to have an accident though - maybe I could invent a problem with my coil and have it out....whaddya reckon?

Anyway Twig - go for it - look, I'm still relatively sane (honest!) after having 5 so 3 for you should be a doddle, no?

LOL, QE I thought "oh shit" after I posted that

What I mean is with 5 already a baby wouldn't make a jot of difference, it would be a breeze.

Of course no6 may be the straw that broke the camels back with regards to your pelvic floor

hana · 12/12/2005 23:34

thanks for this thread, it could be me
would so love another
dd2 is almolst 1 and dd1 is 4.

oh am so so broody

cathyspamtaslittlehelper · 12/12/2005 23:37

i am 'accidentally' pregnant with number 3 and husband dh is shocked but i must admit i am delighted despite having 2 very young kids already - DS1 is 28 months and DS2 is 11 months. I am not sure I will ever get over broodiness and am scared by that! I cant just keep on having more and more! Probably have plenty time as I am only 26!

Twiglett · 13/12/2005 10:37

well DH said he'd think about it

and it was my turn to get up this morning and I think I've changed my mind again ..

no I haven't

yes I have

arrrgghhhh ... in 2 minds

definitely not till DD is 2 .. so have till May to get fit anyway and need to find out about AI and everything

Always wanted three, but DS2 is definitely a third and last child (enough said, little monkey!). Absolutely no desire to have any more and I do think you know when this time comes. Our lives would have been very different with just DS1 and DD - very studious, bookish, no hassle, no dirty little chap who never stops talking...

hub2dee · 13/12/2005 11:36

Give dh the mini me when we're next in your fair village.... powerful stuff, I'm tellin' ya !

walkinginawelshmumwonderland · 13/12/2005 11:41

When does the broodiness kick in?
I don't want no3 at the moment (ds is only 6 months) and I 'think' I'm pretty firm about that. Is that going to change???? But I'll be too old if it doesn't kick in until they're 2.....

ohFennelyeHerbful · 13/12/2005 11:47

Pros

I was really surprised how very special and loved a 3rd child can be. my dd3 is utterly gorgeous.
My dp insisted he only wanted two. I had to persuade him. now he says he always wanted 3.
Most normal cars fit 3 children and seats if you want them to.
Money - my 3rd hasn't cost loads yet. cloth nappies, breastfeed, then normal food etc. use all the same baby equipment. Not too painful financially.
Holidays. there are loads of bargains out there. many cheaper options if you want them.
I put on a couple of stone with each child but lost it each time. it's possible to get back to old figure if you want to.
It totally got rid of the broodiness for me. always wanted 3. have never wanted another though.

Cons.
Knackering.
You might be sometimes consumed with envy at those who swan around doing intersting things with just one or two children.

madness · 13/12/2005 11:51

well, I thought 1 ds and dd, that is it. Especially as I alsways wanted them before my 40th birthday. But just couldn't get rid of the baby stuff...So when finally mentioned it to dh I thought he would be sensible and talk me out of it. Well, he didn't so 8 weeks pg and feeling tired, sick.......

expatinscotland · 13/12/2005 12:12

dd2 3 days old and i admit to broodiness.

PeachyPlumFairy · 13/12/2005 12:30

DS3 has been such a blessing to us! I had pre-eclampsia with DS1 (and he has AS), and hyperemesis with both, but I felt broody and went with it and am so glad I did! he's just such a laid back character and he brings joy to all (the boys adore him), I am sure it's at least partly because we are so much more experienced at this parenting lark. He's 2 years 5 months now so should be a right pain, but he's not, because there's little he can do we haven't seen before so he gets no reaction.

I'm now desperate for No. 4, Dh gave in and agreed but I have to graduate first. can't wait though

Glitterygook · 13/12/2005 13:31

I was still broody and was thinking about a 4th for a few months after ds3 was born, but for a long time now I've been sure 3 is enough. I love it and I wouldn't be without any of them - 3 is what I wanted - but I absolutely could not cope with any more. I'm looking forward to having some time to work when ds3 goes to school and if I had another that would be delayed.

NutcrackingXmas · 13/12/2005 13:35

3 is great, could not have left it at 2.

4 would be great too I think but dp has changed his mind again.

Twiglett · 13/12/2005 13:38

ok .. can afford the AI

broody again now

have worked out I am most broodiest when children are asleep / at school
