I miss London! Feel really unsettled and ds been really poorly for a week with throat infection, raging temp, chesty cough.

Does it take ages to settle when moving house? Had forgotten how weird it all is.

tigi, whats the population of the village?

Mirage · 12/12/2005 22:35

I love living in a village & apart from 9 years in town, have lived in one all my life.We moved back to the country 6 months ago & like Tigi, have nothing but fields at the back of our garden. It is great not to be surrounded on all sides by people & houses.

There are only 130 odd people here & no shop or school, but the fab school I went to is in the next village & dd1 already attends the pre school there.

Stleger,Cork must be twinned with were I live.I pass the test as I am the 5th generation of our family to live here!I'm practically royalty

Have to say the avocado thing surprises me-I've never met anyone that bumpkinish & we are 97 miles from London.

The only downside is that everyone knows your business-especially if you work in the village too.

Dinny, you have no reason to moan! Surrey is practically New York compared to where I live!

We thought about moving to Brighton (too expensive) or Cornwall (too far away / no jobs) so moved to Spain! NORTH-WEST Spain. It is so rural here.
People laugh and point at our English car (wheel on the wrong side) like it's a bloody spaceship.
They stare (without any shame) at my DH who is 6'2 and has a shaven head as if they'd just seen Hitler.
There is no Waitrose.
No Marks & Spencers.
The nearest takeaway is 40 minutes away and even that's rubbish.
No Indian or Chinese food on the supermarket shelves nevermind bloody Thai or Vietnamese.
In the small villages most people have the same surname. Definitely inbred.
The oldies still carry their shopping on their head.
My friend came to stay with her girlfriend... well, you can imagine the looks. Eyes on stalks I have to say!
Went to an opening at an art gallery, met loads of New Yorkers and felt SO provincial! I want to live in a big city! (at weekends anyway, and without any children).

I realise I have made it sound terrible here but it is actually beautiful and the best move we ever made... honest.

Correct, mon petit chou (you weren't there when I posted!)

gggimmesnowsnow · 12/12/2005 23:30

Yes, but have been frantic and forgot to reply. Have finished revisions on book (6000 more words, I might add ) and dd4 is very ill. Physio, the works.

Will get my finger out. Promise.
