Do you wrap stocking fillers before you put them in?

Or do they just get shoved in?

Also, is the empty stocking left on the end of the bed and a big thing made of it 'oooooh will it be full in the morning? etc' or do you just sneak in quietly in the night and leave the full one there?

no wrapping sneak in fetch stocking and sneak back in with it full

IOTAnnenbaum · 07/12/2005 14:23

I wrap some things - but not the chocolate coins etc.

we hang stokings on the door handle (for easy access) the night before

Glitterygook · 07/12/2005 14:23

Yes, but not bags of choccie santas.

FIMBObellsFimbleAllTheWay · 07/12/2005 14:23

Oh God, there is enough wrapping to do without the stocking fillers as well. Their stockings are currently hanging up on the tie backs in my lounge as I type (yes I have my Christmas tree up) but will mysteriously make their way to the bedrooms filled with lovely goodies on Christmas Eve when they are asleep!

hornbag · 07/12/2005 14:23

Don't bother wrapping them.
We put the stockings by the fireplace in the dining room - it saves Father Christmas a few valuable minutes (so considerate of us )...also means we're less likely to get caught out sneaking around filling stockings

binkie · 07/12/2005 14:28

yes, everything swaddled (though not sellotaped) in tissue paper - important that stocking looks crammed & that's the easy trick

NomDePlumPudding · 07/12/2005 14:31

Wrap them

Oh nooooooooooooooooooooo

...yet another Good Mummy think I get wrong.

Glitterygook · 07/12/2005 14:35

Quite like the idea of just loosely wrapping in tissue - much easier!

Glitterygook · 07/12/2005 14:35

OR not at all - might go for that option. Any methods of cutting back on work are fine by me!

biglipskissinunderthemistletoe · 07/12/2005 14:35

prefer tp wrap them as its exciting and also mum used to put a empyt pillow case cover on the end of my bed and woke up in the morning all excited and the pillow case cover was stuffed with pressies!!!

BoozyChristmacwoozy · 07/12/2005 14:35

I wrap, because unwrapping a present is part of the enjoyment.

biglipskissinunderthemistletoe · 07/12/2005 14:36

apart from chocs and satsumas.

Oh -I feel really bad now at not wrapping them -surely I'm not the only one??
I guess I've never wrapped them as ours weren't wrapped as kids. DPs family had different traditions as well (a plate rather than a stocking? Its a German thing)

SilentBite · 07/12/2005 14:41

I wrap
and for some reason the satsuma has to be wrapped in foil

Mincepiedermama · 07/12/2005 14:42

I'd never thought of wrapping them. I think it would be nice to wrap a couple of things though. DH and I always have great fun getting the stockings ready and delivering them whilst a bit pissed on Christmas eve.

I'm getting so excited.

JonesTheSteamingSanta · 07/12/2005 14:42

I wrap 'em!!! (Apart from chocolates!!!)

My kids don't eat satsumas (not from want of me trying I hasten to add!!!!)

puddle · 07/12/2005 14:42

never occurred to me not to wrap. even the santa chocolates (but WHY? i am now thinking)

Bozza · 07/12/2005 14:44

Don't wrap but have a major issue this year - I have lost the stockings.

Glitterygook · 07/12/2005 14:46

Me either puddle but great idea huh?!

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 07/12/2005 14:48

I think I will wrap, but in easy tissue paper.

And sneak in when they are asleep.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooo excited for this year, dd1 is 3 and really getting into it. dd2 is nearly 16 months and just wants to destroy the tree so far.

I want to start off as I mean to go on, iyswim, and get all my traditions 'right' from the off!

ta.

xx

PS Forgot about the satsumas

Yes.

Bozza · 07/12/2005 14:51

I like the idea of part of a toy car or something peeping out of the top of the stocking. And so far it takes them long enough just to open the big presents. I'm sure they will get better. Hope I can find their stockings otherwise I will struggle to find any small enough I think.
