I prefer not to fratenise with the incontinent

waterbaby · 10/10/2003 21:47

Less thank goodness... only due to night time -
Polar Bear PJ... umm, thats it...£14?
Duvet cover not grobag, so thats a different category!

Today it was next jeans (last xmas sale, taken a long time to grow into them) about £5
Baby gap top - a present,
Hooded top knitted by grandma (but very groovy - since we vetted the patterns everyones a lot happlier)
Socks - Mothercare I think - about £1/pair
Shoes £26 from Clarks
Coat - also last years xmas sale (I think we thought she'd keep growing at the same rate from 1-2 as she had from 2-3, on reflection, glad she didn't!) about £10 from M&S I think...

waterbaby · 10/10/2003 21:49

Yesterday she was wearing a T-shirt originally owned by her dad, when he was about 3!! How about that for hoarding (It was a special personalised T-shirt, but even so... not sure I'll have many of her clothes hanging around in twenty-odd years time!

bobthebaby · 10/10/2003 21:50

Long sleeve T Shirt - equivalent of a pound
Body suit - pound
Nappy
Trousers - present from grandparents
Socks - 50p
Little shoes to keep socks on 2.99 from Tesco
I'm very proud of how cheaply I dress my little lad, I'd much rather have lots of cheap clothes than have to wash all the time.

DD

Trousers and top set from Makro £3-4 ish
Socks from market 50p
Bodysuit from Ethel Austin £1.50
Winter coat from Asda £8
Startrite Shoes from local shop £31!!!! (she has very small but wide feed only Startrite fit)

Me

2nd hand DP maternity top lent by friend FREE
Mothercare skirt from Ebay £3
Shoes from local shop £12
Coat bought by my mother a year ago as Xmas present.

waterbaby · 10/10/2003 22:35

I agree BTB - especially when they keep growing...

Crunchie · 10/10/2003 23:20

Cnr you have sucommed to the gap poncho too!!

My girls were wearing

DD1 jeans £8 ASDA last spring but only fit now!
long sleeve T-shirt £1.50 ASDA sale
Shoes £26 Clarks
Socks - no idea
knickers £9.99 for 5 pairs, Disney shop at Christmas!
Poncho £24.50 Gap

DD2 Jeans £2 Ebay (next originally)
Shirt ? ASDA 2 yrs ago for DD1
Disney Knickers as above (well they are addicted to Disney Princess)
Shoes £31 Startrite
Poncho £24.50 Gap

Aside from their ponchos and shoes I rarely spend more than about £10, and usually nearer £5. Unless it is Gap stuff. My justification for that is that it lasts through them both and washes/wears better than anything and I usually only buy in the sale!

God I realise I spend far too much on them!! But I do buy clothes as birthday/Christmas presents (hence the knickers)

willow2 · 10/10/2003 23:34

Gap combat trousers - perfect nick from charity shop - £1
Next long sleeve t-shirt - part of 3 for £9 - so £3
vest and socks - second hand from cousin
pants - multipack so maybe £1?

Total = £5

Plus Gymboree coat bought in sale for - I think - £15

scoobysnax · 11/10/2003 12:55

I succumbed to the Gap poncho too...

Scoobysnax - I just couldn't resitst it in the shop. Mind it was hard to get hold of as they kept running out and only get one or two of each size in. I ended up having to order it, but DD does look so cute in it

Snow White costume from M & S - £20. Just gone off to party (not a fancy dress one, but hey, who cares?) Looks adorable, specially with the headband with big red bow!

White silky tights - last Christmas's, far too small and will be down by her ankles half way through the party, but she INSISTED.

Start rite black shoes.

Ooh, and knickers, pink, (well we have to get pink in somewhere) Mothercare, approx £1.00

scoobysnax · 11/10/2003 14:59

Cnr - that old poncho is a sell out in the states - the sales assistant in my branch was gutted not to be able to squeeze her head through the biggest size!
No big version in big gap though - or are we too old now really?

OP posts:
CnR · 11/10/2003 16:00

Scoobysnax - LOL! I think, sadly, maybe we are I now choose clothes I like, for DD to wear instead

scoobysnax · 11/10/2003 18:07

it must be said my dd is a lot cuter than me...

OP posts:
binker · 15/10/2003 17:18

my ds has much nicer clothes than me - mostly mini Boden or Gap and Petit Bateau underwear- lucky boy !

binker · 15/10/2003 17:19

..and expensive shoes !

ThomCat · 15/10/2003 17:27

Today she is wearing navy linen tunic top - v expensive but bought by her doting nana so..., white long sleeved vest underneath from Hennes so not very much and a pair of baby blue cords from the Gap but in the sale so wouldn't be more than a tenner. Her trainers are white shell toes that I bought for my God-daughter and they were then passed back to me.

Frenchgirl · 15/10/2003 17:31

School uniform....
blazer: £80 (gasp...)
grey tunic: £17
white shirt: ?
blue tie: about £4
long grey socks:?
Petit Bateau undies
black shoes: around £35
Normally wears gap, Petit Bateau, Lili Gaufrette (french label), Lapin Bleu (french too), Jigsaw. Lucky girl, better dressed than me and she doesn't even care!!!

Slinky · 15/10/2003 17:55

Yep, totally agree with the comments re: Boden. Very dull clothing yet overpriced.

So as of now:

DD1 - out at tennis club -
wearing a lilac velour tracksuit - Woolworths - about £20 I think. Adidas trainers - can't remember how much - from our local Factory Shopping Centre.

DD2 - here - wearing a velour pink tracksuit - Woolworths again! about £15. Pink slippers from Adams - £4.99. Her Clarks boots cost £28.00.

DS1 - still in uniform - so sweatshirt from school - £11.00. Polo shirt from school - £8.00. Grey Trousers from Marks and Spencers - £9.00. Clarks shoes - £32.00.

Me -

Black trousers - Debenhams - about £25.00 I think. Red T-shirt with the logo of the Day Nursery I work at - Free! Clarks Springer Boots - £69.00.
