And we're leaving London for t'other side of the M25! In a week's time! Any tips on village life??

OP posts:
starlover · 24/11/2005 20:01

oooh where you moving to?

lummox · 24/11/2005 20:03

Congratulations.

Village life a bit like freahers week - don't get too friendly all at once.

And learn to live with (and enjoy for yourself) nosiness.

Has many good bits though.

And [not meaning to be rude emoticon] it's got to beat Mitcham.

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:04

Little village the other side of Reigate! V excited! And terrified!

OP posts:
starlover · 24/11/2005 20:06

ooh well now you live near me! kind of! now we jsut need to get lockets down here too!

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:07

my thoughts exactly, Lummox!

I grew up on a v small island so was well used to nosiness - have kind of forgotten what it's like after 7 years of London! Am worriedly thinking "What will I actually DO all day??"

OP posts:
dinny · 24/11/2005 20:08

She's definitely working on her dh!

LadyTophamHatt · 24/11/2005 20:09

Excellent dinny!

( how strange, you've started this thread exactly the same way as I started mine, LOL look

starlover · 24/11/2005 20:10

excellent!
you will have to come down for a cuppa one day! that's what village life is all about! baking cakes and drinking tea!

lummox · 24/11/2005 20:10

Little things will suddenly take all day.

Not all cynical stuff though - realised the other day that we spend much more time now talking about and noticing the countryside and changing seasons and stuff. Sounds a bit corny, but is very lovely too.

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:11

OMG, how weird is that?? SERIOUSLY hadn't seen it! Obviously "whoo-hoo" is the only suitable emotion for one who's just exchanged!

Cannot BELIEVE we are out of here!! And also found out today dd has place at local school's nursery from Jan. Whoo hoo!

starlover · 24/11/2005 20:12

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:13

Lummox, Starlover - asked dh where our breadmaker is hiding as plan to bake own bread/grow zillions of veg etc.

OP posts:
lummox · 24/11/2005 20:14

wooooah there. I think a breadmaker is going a bit far.

rural idylls are all very well, but really.

We'll all be wearing pinnies and baking within seconds of unpacking

LadyTophamHatt · 24/11/2005 20:17

LIZS · 24/11/2005 20:19

wow that was quick in the end ! Is it the one east of Reigate, by say about 6 miles. If so my kids go to school very close by !!!

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:20

have been thinking will use Ocado for main shopping and then purchase seasonal veg from farm shop (when not growing our own, of course)

Lockets - no, she has an afternoon place in the nursery. Hey, you know the way they consider reception application separately (ie, being in the nursery is no guarantee of a place do you reckon that - in an unspoken way - if you're in the nursery you will get into reception?

OP posts:
starlover · 24/11/2005 20:20

oh i am in crawley so you're not really near me at all!

starlover · 24/11/2005 20:21

oh dinny, dinny, dinny.... you think you can get shopping delivered when you live in a village? ooooh noo!

lol

ocado won't bloody deliver to me neither will tesco!

dinny · 24/11/2005 20:22

ha, LIZS, did you decipher my cryptic location? suddenly got paranoid as is such a small place!

do they go to school in a village in-between there and reigate?

OP posts:
dinny · 24/11/2005 20:23

ooohhhhh, no, Starlover, you're kidding???
