Whe Dh and I got hitched we kept it a secret until 2 weeks before the day. It was great telling everyone

The dress sounds fab - like that gorgeous purple foil Dairy Milk used to be in - so tempting and sexy!

LadyTophamHat, it's been a recurring argument in our house for about 2 years, it went like this:

Me: when shall we get married then?
Dp: whenever you want. Shall we wait until we have more money/time/energy?
Me: Yes. And let's wait until I'm thin too.
Dp: You're not fat! (this is the right answer, obv, I am!)
Me: But I WANT TO BE MARRIED TO YOU!
Dp: But you're not talking to x/y/z in your family
Me: True. Let's leave it a while.
Dp: OK

Eventually, 3 weeks ago I realised that, like having children, if we waited until we were solvent/rested/thin (me) we might never do it and my dp would never be dh and therefore my next of kin and my mother would be the one who had to give permission to switch off the life support were I to die in a horrible M1 pile up. So I texted him and said "see if they've got a slot on the x December will you?" and they did so we're doing it. We have to collect the certificate from one reg office and drive it to another next week, we're cutting it that fine. I am very much looking forward to both the wedding and being able to type "DH" and call him 'my husband' rather than partner.
