DC's Manly suggestion for DH/DP presents

aahh tis the season and as always, I will harrass you all with my whisky suggestions.

check this site out. it's a whisky sales site specialising in old/rare or just generally nice whiskies.

if your man is a whisky drinker he'll probably appreciate edradour. this is featured on the front page smack dab in the middle.

as far as i know YOU CAN'T BUY THIS IN THE SHOPS. It would make a very nice present for a hardened whisky drinker who appreciates the finest.

It's just a standard 10yr old malt but it's rather special (see the write up)

If i was to get this for christmas, I would have to change my pants after opening it.

lagavulin

Enid · 10/11/2005 16:55

we drank it in bed watching a dvd on our honeymoon

JoolsToo · 10/11/2005 16:56

dh favours Bushmills and Jameson - I know absolute zip about alcohol!

DaddyCool · 10/11/2005 16:56

oh yeah jools... i remember you saying last year. yes, i love whisky. any whisky for that matter, even the cheapo blended stuff but I much prefer the gooooood stuff.

The irish ones are really smooth. I do quite like them and you can get some goods ones for a very good price.

I love my whisky but I'm not a heavy drinker. I'm drink in steady very small amounts. A litre bottle lasts me about 3 months.

lagavulin is very nice... and very expensive. it's about the priciest standard single malt in the shops. about the same price as the one i plugged on my original post.

I like Jameson. Cheap but very tasty.

I'm a whisky fiend - not that I drink much of it these days. I mght try that one you recommended DC as something a bit different my favourite is a good Islay Malt - nice and peaty. I used to be very into my Irish Whisky too though. Might have to get some for FIL to take back to the US with him.

Sigh - two Christmasses this year an early one with the inlaws that chritmas itself with my lot - phew. Might need a few tots of whiskey to see me through!

DaddyCool · 10/11/2005 17:00

i'm really only a beginner. I'm trying to taste as many as I can but there are many I haven't.

ooh - could you recommend a good Irish whiskey for my Dad.- bonus points for rare (but obtainable) ones.

sharklet · 10/11/2005 17:03

Theres a Malt Whiskey bar we used to go to in London that has some of the rarer ones on optic you can try - I seem to remember a tot of one was in the thousands. They did have mor of the more sensible priced ones too though. It was a good way of exploring the palate.
