And me - dd has only been at school since September and I really miss not spending time with her. It's lovely to have her home again and do things together ... even if she does run me ragged half the time!

Blossomhowl · 26/10/2005 19:21

I am loving it. My 2 children were so exhausted and really needed to recharge their batteries.

I also love not having to do the blasted school run!

magnolia1 · 26/10/2005 19:39

You Lot Are MAD!!!!

Can't wait till Monday

spidermama · 26/10/2005 19:42

I love them.
I resent school though so you win some you lose some.

MarsLady · 26/10/2005 19:44

I like them.

I like having no timetable to follow.
Wearing PJs until noon.
Sending the kids off to friends.
Having the kids call to ask if they can sleep over.
Slow lazy days.

In the summer I like...

chilling in the park with friends and their children and a huge picnic with wine.

nutcackle · 26/10/2005 19:47

Actually this time hasn't been too bad.

Dp was off for the first 2 days which helped. Today we made muffins and cookies and now the two dd's are staying at my moms tonight.

Taking them to see Nanny Mcphee tomorrow too.

KBear · 26/10/2005 19:58

Yep, love the holidays. They've played with toys they never get a lot of time for usually, we've make halloween stuff, we've been out to the park, we've visited the fire station (courtesy of my brother!), we've been to the library to make craft stuff, we've had friends over, we met some MNers yesterday .

Love it.

krib · 26/10/2005 20:00

Yes, love 'em. Lie-ins, days out, lots of hugging & kissing my kids (even though they say yuck!). No pressure, just.... lovely!

roisin · 26/10/2005 20:13

I love em.
Wish we had two weeks not one though.

Oh yes ... have a houseful of other people's children (am a childminder!) and we have great fun (usually!!) And then their parents give me loads of dosh. It's much more peaceful during term-time.

spookylucy · 26/10/2005 23:17

Yes because it means I dont have to teach

princesspeahead · 27/10/2005 00:06

love them. no school run, big ones at home to play with little one (he is in a permanent state of overexcitement), wallace and gromit tomorrow afternoon - what's not to like?

Tortington · 27/10/2005 00:19

yeah its great - i booked a week off work and havent got up before 10 am once. its pure self indulgence - have also done really stupid things that i can never ever be arsed to do like washed the curtains.

but the exhaust is falling off my car - so will have to get up at 8.30 tomorrow ( ha haa haa ha poor me) to take it to the garage and then walk home. ooohh think some charity shop shopping is in order tomorrow - having older kids is so f*cking brilliant

I love the lie-ins, and no rushing about to get them to school for 8:40am. But I will be glad when they go back.

KBear · 27/10/2005 16:28

What is this talk of lie-ins? I don't understand.
My children wake at 6.30 no matter what and once awake are hungry!

fruitful · 27/10/2005 16:41

Wow. At what age should my children be before I can expect to start enjoying the school hols then? Mine are 3.5 and 8mo. 3.5yo normally does 4 mornings at nursery, and this week has been very long.

Lie-ins? Presumably because they can get up and entertain themselves? Dd is up earlier in the hols - less tired.

twirlaround · 27/10/2005 16:48

LOVE IT

TinyGang · 27/10/2005 17:16

No - I am engulfed

emmatom · 27/10/2005 17:53

Yes, love 'em - no wingy, tired children at 4pm, no rush to make dinner, no school lunchboxes to prepare, no rush to bed, no getting up early and best of all, no having to face some of the freaks at the school gates.

I'm in my bubble at the moment, pretending others apart from family and close friends don't exist, which is nice.

The only thing I miss is being able to pop into town for a leisurely browse and a coffee with friends. Can't have it all though!!
