ok my mum was ill ( banned naturally) and she took benylin on top of alcohol and slep for the whole day occasionally waking up to mutter somehting incoherent then going back to s leep

aren't there just TOO mANY santas around in uk.though? Surely confusing for the kids these days?

(but then you know that cos I whinged for England on here about it!)

When I was 19 I went out 3 nights in arow, and ended up so knackered that I couldn't do anything then lost my voice on Xmas eve.

Made my dad's xmas though, thT i COULDN'T SPEAK.

Then 3 years ago I got a chest infection and ear infectoon but still managed to drive to rural Dorset to see my dad get married on xmas eve. Xmas day I could barely move, and this time made DH's day as I lost my voice again!

Haus,that would really piss you off..spending all that money to have a crap time far from home!

Oh God my worst christmas was way before I was married or had kids. Was working as a hotel receptionist and on christmas eve we had a woman seriously raped in one of our hotel bedrooms, christmas morning we lost a male guest from the coach tour who had alzheimers (sp?) and then had to call out a doctor for a guest who had 'something stuck up his bum' His words not mine.

also got chucked one xmas day by my very first boyfriend (after he had accepted my present) (and he didnt buy me one, so it was all pre-meditatied)

also spent 2 xmases on my own, as a student nurse in the halls of residence, as the pig of a ward sister had put me on nightshift, mean bitch.

ate xmas pies all day in the staff canteen on my own

5 years ago I went into the kitchen to drain the fat from the turkey out of the roasting dish. It was really heavy (big turkey) and I lost my grip, sending boiling hot fat down my hand and knee (I was crouching at the time). I didn't go to hospital but I know I should have. Even now when the sun gets hot I can see where it burnt me!

i have also worked 13 xmas (at a quick guess) out of the 32 in my life. mostly to hide

hmmm the last 5 years are all pretty hot contenders as i ended up getting knocked about by DX.

but last was the worst. i left and went to a refuge in NOvember but really couldnt make the kids spend their christmas there so after DX begged for weeks and promised he was going to be on his best behaviour i said i would drop the kids to him on xmas eve and then pick them up christas day evening.

it meant i would not see the kids open their pressies and stuff but at least they would have a proper xmas. well when i got their i intended to stay in teh car and just drop them off but he said he needed me to help him with something so stupidly i went inside.

anyway this was about 5;30 xmas eve. he spent from then till about 8;45pm xmas day knocking seven shades of sh*te out of me.
he took my mobile pretty much as soon as i walked throught the door so couldnt call anyone and he lives in a flat above a shop so there was no one around that i could call out to.

hence why this year, dx free im so adamant that the kids are actually going to have a real proper christmas

One of the Christmases before we married we spent with DH's family in Brazil. We had one bottle of wine between 12 of us, ate the main meal and opened the pressies on Christmas eve, it poured with rain on Christmas day so we went to the cinema. DH went with his cousin to see Batman and I went with his 8 year old cousin to see Home Alone in Portuguese which I didn't speak at the time. And guess what...we'll be in Brazil again this Christmas!!

Xmas 99. Parents had given me an ultimatum - leave (then) dp (now dh) or be permanently excluded from family. (Story is in Relationships, under 'v sad atm - parents' - thread is a few weeks old now). Went, without dp (whom they'd always refused to meet) to spend Xmas with them as a kind of olive branch. Mother forced me to play happy families in front of gran. Whenever we were alone there were hysterics, emotional blackmail and threats.

think my worst xmas are any one of past 3 but they have also been the most lovely aswell if that makes sense.
Xmas 2002 went to my mums and stepfathers only for stepfathers brother to try and get off with me and tell me i wasnt really his neice anyway despite fact i had been part of the family from age 2..all in front of dh...of course we hastily left. However was also lovely as i realise i got pregnant the week in between xmas n new year.

xmas 2003 xmas night my depression kicked in due to have ing bene abused by said stepfather but only really hit home after having my son in oct 03...basically spent most of the night contemplating jumping out the window however was lovely as it was ds first xmas.

Xmas 2004 found out that i had a missed mc on 16th dec but had to wait until 30th dec to have a d+c so spent whole xmas knowing i was carrying around my dead baby who had died at 9wks but i should have been 15wks.Spent a lot of time crying[theme of pst couple of years..lol]
However was lovely because ds enjoyed opening his presents...etc

hoping this xmas will be a lot better as baby is due 16th and am pushing to be induced on the due date and also ds is just 2 so knows who santa is..although not the whole concept..also no longer have contact with stepfather or his family..lol

my 1st xmas when i was 18. i wound up in hospital ill and suffering mscle spasms in my neck.

oo just remebered xmas 1999 found out dh[then dp] was cheating on me..sigh and i wonder why i only half like xmas....although i am a big kid at heart.
