We've got one 18 month ds and I doubt we'll spend more than £30 as he'll get so much from grandparents.

When my DD was that age I got DS's baby toys out of the loft and re-wrapped them because:
a) didn't want DS to think DD was being left out.
b) she could have her own presents/paper rather than attacking DSs.

just casting my mind back - mine would definitely have noticed at that age, but they would have been happy with an existing toy wrapped in wrapping paper.

I was amazed by the strength of the younger ones' determination not to be left out!

mmmmm, I guess having 2 this year is a first for me, not having experienced the dynamics of younger/older child interaction before ..... I'll be bearing your comments in mind!

cat64 - thanks for advice on toy kitchen. I've been looking at the new ones at places like ELC and they do look quite pricey so will start with the sales. Ds will be quite happy, whatever.

nightynight - totally agree. Last night DD was screaming because she didn't get to clean her teeth when DS did. So imagine if he got a Christmas present and she didn't!
