Bit embarrassed to do this really, I don't want any of you to think my story is worth telling or anything, but it exists so may as well tell you about it if you're interested.
It's long and probably very boring for people who don't know me so you might not want to go there, but for those of you who possibly have an interest in birth stories or children with special needs esp Down's Syndrome have a look atthis My little girl is Charlotte by the way.
I posted it on the special needs section because Fio asked me about it but thought I'd bring the story outside the box so to speak!!
Anyway, it's not particulary interesting or anything but like I said it exists so here you are!

I read it on the SN thread TC, and thought it was lovely. I think stories like yours help to lift the stigma that sometimes surrounds conditions like Downs, plus the fact that I'm a sucker for birth stories

P.S. I LOVE that piccy

Bobsmum · 09/09/2003 11:53

ThomCat - am all teary now - what a lovely story! Your wee girl sounds like a real gem!

She is SUCH a sweetie. What a lovely girl - and a gorgeous photo. It's so lovely to see and hear about other people's children, so thank you very much.

fio2 · 09/09/2003 11:59

She sounds and looks like an angel Thomcat, a true blessing.

alibubbles · 09/09/2003 12:10

I'd love to see an updated photo of her, I bet she's a bundle of fun!

Your love for your daughter really shines through and I am glad that you are proud of her. Your story was very moving.

You must be local to me if she was born in Watford (I'm St Albans) would love to maybe meet up sometime, I look after a little girl a bit younger who would love some company!

Boe · 09/09/2003 12:12

She is beautifull and your storey is beautiful and is so nice to see that Lottie will grow up surrounded by so much love and such wonderful parents.

Janstar · 09/09/2003 12:18

Hi Thomcat, Just because I don't know you doesn't make your story boring - far from it. I found it enthralling and very moving. I too felt tearful. And now I feel I do know you a little bit. Like Alibubbles I am in your area and in fact spent a week in Watford General earlier this year - so I know how fantastic the staff are there. Would love to meet you and your dd sometime.

katmam · 09/09/2003 12:20

What a lovely story. Got a very big lump in my throat now! An absolutely stunning picture of your gorgeous wee girl, by the way!

Bumblelion · 09/09/2003 12:36

What a lovely story. Sitting here at work with a tear in my eye. What a beautiful little girl and like you say at the end you should feel very proud that you have been honoured to raise this little girl. Beautiful story.

katierocket · 09/09/2003 12:36

Thomcat, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful daughter with us - I'm rather snivelley now. Certainly a story worth telling - she sounds a very special little girl and you sound like very special parents too.

marthamoo · 09/09/2003 14:10

Thomcat, she is gorgeous, and you sound as though you are enjoying her so much. She's a lucky girl to have such a lovely Mummy

EmmaTMG · 09/09/2003 14:14

What a lovely story and equally what a lovely little girl.

Kazziegirl · 09/09/2003 14:22

Thomcat - Charlotte is lovely and your story oozes of how much you love her. Thanks for sharing.

ThomCat · 09/09/2003 14:26

ohh God, I feel really teary myself now! Girls - thank you so much for ALL you kind words.
I was a bit embarrassed to post initially because I didn't want anyone to think 'ohh read MY story -what's so special about her, silly cow'!!! It so wasn't like that and you haven't made me feel that way at all. Thanks you for your posts, Mumsnet gives you the best lift in the world sometimes doesn't it. I really do love this site. Reading these posts and the ones to Beetroot for example just make me feel like bursting with affection for so many people I've never met before, it's quite mad.
Alibubbles and Janstar - I'm in Pinner, not far from Harrow and don't work on Fridays, although we usually spend at least an hour or so in the hospital each Friday.
Thanks again everyone for all being so lovely.

Thomcat I read it this morning but couldnt put a post on as I had to rush off, sorry.

It was such a lovely story and your little Lottie is cute

Boe · 09/09/2003 15:13

Thomcat - you are what is so special about you.

ThomCat · 09/09/2003 15:30

There isn't ANYTHING special about me Boe, nothing at all, but the fact hat Lottie survived the morning after pill and everything else makes her pretty damn special, but thanks for being so nice.
Lots of love and a big kiss X
