Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else is into Geocaching. I find it a great way of getting out of the house & exploring the countryside, with and without the rest of the family! There are some interesting places locally I would have never though to visit without being lead there!

Fully expect a zero response from you lot of "far to cool for anything so nerdy" ladies. Smile

Ok have registered with the website but am confused.
There are a few 'caches' very near where I live.
What do I do when I find the cache?
Take stuff out. put stuff in?

Sorry for being dull, looks fun though.

yes,you sign the log book and log it in your account online when you get home.....put it back as you find it and move on to the next!!Grin

We started geocaching last summer and really enjoy it. We use the geocaching app on my HTC android phone (iphone one is good too)
Dd1 (4.6yrs) loves finding treasure and doesn't seem to realise she is walking quite a distance to find it.

SixtyFootDoll in terms of taking things, the etiquette is;-

What are the rules in Geocaching?
1. If you take something from the cache, leave something of equal or greater value.
2. Write about your find in the cache logbook.
3. Log your experience at www.geocaching.com.

Thisnk of it as a sorta swap-shop! The kids will love it as most swaps seem kiddy orientated.

Trackables are a whole different kettle of fish though!

Thanks FFK. We're meeting up with friends for the day at half-term so might give it a whirl then.

We stumbled across a cache on a walk at the weekend. It was funny, DP found a little box and went to open it and I said "careful, it might be drug paraphenalia!" Blush. We just had a look and put it back where we found it.

It got me interested in the whole geocaching idea but I was put off by the fact you need a GPS. I'm encouraged to hear that you can use a SatNav or phone though.

According to the website there are LOADS of caches around me.
