on dd 12 has major spots on her forehead she spotty spot spot spot.

bith dh and i never had major probs so i assumed that kids wouldnt. eldest son has a couple to be expected

firstly anything i can buy to make them go away
secondly - do you think this is a strong indicator that she was indeed swapped at birth as i have always suspected?

Do you like to squeeze them custy???

If it is a major problem (and otc stuff doesn't clear them up) see the doc and they can prescribe things that are much better than otc stuff.

Mimi5 · 06/10/2005 18:13

we bought some stuff for our 12 year old that though .pricey really works clearisil make it and it is in a small tube..........cannot remember name of it of course ...but think it is around 5-6 pounds for small tube. it does work though and\we buy it from tesco!

Tortington · 06/10/2005 18:13

theres not much squeezing room on the forehead - i find you need a good fleshy bit to do some excellent squeezing.

yes might take her to doctors. thank you

But don't you find that the forhead makes for good 'mirror hitters'?

Seriously tho, it is worth going to the doc as you can get scarring and kids can find acne (as oppsed to a few spots) very difficult to deal with

girrafey · 06/10/2005 18:17

if only a few spots and not ane then i would recomend a witch stick
hth

Tortington · 06/10/2005 18:20

Don't pass on that squeezing addiction Custy! We want it better for our kids, dammit.

ScummyMummy · 06/10/2005 19:21

Uh oh! Do they still do clearasil? Is she embarrassed or resigned?

happymerryberries · 06/10/2005 19:21

and we want to squeeze their spots!

CountessCadburyOfBournville · 06/10/2005 19:23

I had that probelm for a while. My dad (worked in the medical business in case you are wondering) gave me surgical spirit to degrease and kill of germs in the area the area and then I would use savlon to treat it medically. Don't know if that helped get rid of them but it certainly cut down the grease so more and more didn't appear. That was probably the 9one and only time I haven't tried squeezing - there just wasn't the room to get a purchase on them.

Tortington · 06/10/2005 23:03

i've bought her clearasil stuff and cute cotton wool balls - i suspect washing her face now and again may actually help.

she isn't that bothered tobe honest - but i am. think that says a lot about me. but hey ho

thanks for your help everyone

custy my 12yo dd is hte same - i actually find that when she's not at school its much better. She uses Boots Simple cleansing water and has some Elizabeth Arden nose strips for blackheads (oh how I love to squeeze them). "Oh mummy dont squeeze them, Bobbi Brown says you should never squeeze" - worst present I ever bought her, the Bobbi Brown book of teenage beauty.

The Neutragena 2-in-1 clay mask and wash is fab. Either that or the Black and Decker

Tortington · 06/10/2005 23:16

oh wow never thought of that paolo - yes sand paper should do nicely.

Just as an experiment Custy try Lush's Ultrabland with a muslin cloth. I wish I discovered that little combo in my youth. Rub over face and neck (behind ears down to collar bones to celar limphatic system or something), rinse cloth in warm water and remove (do this several times being careful to remove all the cleanser) then finish with a cold compress (cloth under cold tap and onto face.) It might not stop all the hormonal outbreaks but it might improve teh overall skin tone. Keep Clearasil for spots themselves.

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 07/10/2005 10:11

yes that lush stuff is good

I had bad spots as a teenager and my mum was utterly uninterested except for suggesting I drink cabbage water.

Have decided when dd1 gets spots I will buy her the Eve Lom cleanser and muslin cloth even though it costs a fortune.

Neat tea tree oil is good and doesn't dry the skin out like other products. I am in my late thirties and still get them so I know all the different preps.

I was on low level antibiotics at one stage which worked well but then got pregnant which worked better.

The heavy hitters e.g. Oxy doo work but really dry out skin.

You can also buy tea tree washes and toners.
