firstly anything i can buy to make them go away
secondly - do you think this is a strong indicator that she was indeed swapped at birth as i have always suspected?

i still have spots at 35 so i obviously can't help... but please don't say what my mum used to: "ooooh poor spotty love!" made me feel like shooting myself.

monkeytrousers · 07/10/2005 10:30

I've recently swapped Eve Lom for Ultrabland as it was just as good, and I have really sensitized and eruptive skin (if there is such a word!)The muslin cloth is vital though. She wont need a moisturiser either.

monkeytrousers · 07/10/2005 10:32

laligo me too, until very recently that is. I really would recommend Ultrabland with a muslin cloth.

CarolinaFullMoon · 07/10/2005 10:37

the Oxy ones are made out of Domestos or something. I've still got bleached-out fingermarks on my towels from where DP's spotty teenage bro used it while staying with us.

Freederm is another good product I believe, you get it over the counter at pharmacies and it does work well I think you need to teach her to cleanse her skin properly as well though. You can get great facial washes that she can use in the shower such as t-zone, clean and clear etc. Once her skin is clean, the spot cream will help better

monkeytrousers · 07/10/2005 11:48

here's a link

I think the secret is to steer clear of mineral oils as they are an irritant for 90% of us even though they're in almost everything, cocoa butter is too which is why I've never been able to use Body Shop products as they're loaded with the stuff. Ultrabland is basically what is says, very basic, bland plant derived ingredients that suits all skins, even mine!

monkeytrousers · 07/10/2005 11:51

I'd use a muslin cloth to take it off though and don't be tempted by their solid version called 'Babyface' as, for some bizarre reason, that contains cocoa butter.

I find neat tea tre oil very gently and doesn't sting me at all. I also used it for DS's infected eczema on the Consultant's recommendation and he never reacted to it. I guess some people can be sensitive to it.

Tortington · 07/10/2005 21:32

i am absolutely not spending vast amounts of money.

i think toothpaste or sandpaper is favourtite

Asda do a tea tree and witch hazel roll on stuff and they do their own tea tree and witch hazel cleansing wipes - really cheap compared to other stuff. I've started to get spots at 43 for the first time (apart from period spots) :O - and this stuff works a treat keping them under control.
