Kids clothes - where do you shop?

I need to go shopping for my DD who is 4 and has done some serious growing since last Autumn as I discovered this weekend when her trousers and top I put her in had "shrunk" by a few inches! So it's time to shop for some new clothes and I thought I'd just put a post up to see which shops come recommended. I usually shop at George (HUGE Asda down the road, so its convenient and cheap), however the last few weeks of clothes are uninspiring and my DD is turning her nose up at them! The Next catalogue is full of pink (I am so bored of that colour), and a quick trip of BHS, H&M and Adams left me uninspired.

So my question is which shops or catalogues do you shop in?

Have you got a matalan They do some really nice stuff for kids - Bit like Asda in that you just have to see what they have at the time.

gingerbear · 26/09/2005 20:43

Tesco and Matalan

Haven't checked the fall clothes yet, but sometimes I find nice things for dd in Zara or M&S...though they are a bit pricier than the other shops mentioned.

NottsMum · 26/09/2005 20:50

Oops - should have said I went to Matalan yesterday but the clothes seem to be weird sizing (which I've noticed before) and she'll either be drowned or they'll only just fit her.

Tesco's is a bit of a trek but I think I'll have to do it.

I must be getting old as I can't bear TKMaxx ....

bran · 26/09/2005 21:04

Is she too old for Boots' clothes? I'm not sure what age they go up to, but I've been impressed by how well they stand up the constant washing that ds' clothes need.

laligo · 26/09/2005 21:05

a bit more expensive but zara kids' clothes are lovely

tassis · 26/09/2005 21:05

next, tesco, asda, NCT sales, hand ons from nephew

gingerbear · 26/09/2005 21:06

Ooh, yes, Pumpkin Patch - get to Meadowhall and grab a bargain in the sales.

gingerbear · 26/09/2005 21:07

La Redoute have some nice stuff.

NottsMum · 26/09/2005 21:20

Ooh, I have a Redoute Catalogue I shall go dig it out.
I have never (as yet) tried Zara for kids clothes - about to be remedied... I heard PP was expensive but I shall go take a look too.

I'm going to an NCT sale on Saturday but wasn't bothering for DD1's clothes as at her age clothes tend to be very worn and washed IYSWIM.

I think Boots go up to age 4 or 5 but they do seem a bit pricey, however, if they wash well....

Anyway, thank you ladieeees. But keep posting your suggestions

ebay

bran · 26/09/2005 21:27

If you ever go to Ireland check out Dunnes Stores, about the same price and quality as George at Asda but nobody in the UK is wearing it. People keep asking me where I got ds' clothes from, I try to pretend they're from some exclusive boutique but I'm a terrible liar.

Katherine · 27/09/2005 16:18

Getting more and more stuff of ebay at the moment. Some things go for silly prices but others arfe fab. Just got DD1 a fab kenzo top, some doc martens and DD2 is also waiting for gorgeous boots. Oncwe you get a feel for the sort of thing you like you can search by brand and its much quicker but pretty addictive.

Loads of UTTAM stuff on there - thats really funky and different.

MascaraOHara · 27/09/2005 16:22
