Adoption: my baby's 16 today

As many of you know I had a baby adopted at birth a long time ago when I was a student. He was born 16 years ago today; so it's been a tough day for me.

A few good friends have always remembered and sent me emails or messages, but no-one has this year. Dh hasn't even mentioned it
I hope my 'birth son' has enjoyed his day!

Have been thinking of you all evening Roisin. Can't imagine how it must feel but am sure that he will be thinking of you too and would be so pleased to know you were thinking of him - not just today but every day. (((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

Hi Roisin

It is nice for us adoptees to know that someone is thinking of us. Sorry that it's been a hard day for you, sometimes people remember things but don't wnat to mention it in case they hurt you. That's where mumsnet comes in!

He'll be taking his exams soon and it will be nice for him knowing that as well as all the people he has known whilst he has been growing up wishing him well, there's someone else there doing the same. A sort of guardian angel!

Anyhow, loads of hugs to you and Happy Birthday to Roisin's Ds!!

Roisin - what a bittersweet day for you

I hope your son is happy and fullfilled as he reaches adulthood and understands why you gave him up. YOu did what you thought was best for him, and I'm sure at times the price of that seems all too high!

My brother in law and his wife found out this week that two years after starting the adoption process,there is a little girl of two for them.
We are all so excited!

...it is a happy day, bittersweet i know but the day your child was born and somewhere out there i bet he is thinking of you because this is a special day and in that same moment you are thinking of him! And who knows what the future holds now that he is reaching adulthood. save this thread somewhere and i am sure that at some point in the future you will be able to share it with him! big hugs xx.

Goodness, roisin, I didn't know either - would never have guessed this was your thread. What a huge knowledge to carry with you every day.

I hope one day you will all come together and your little boys will meet their big brother. You are an amazing woman, you know.
