Just wondered what made people a certain class - I was described as middle class the other day and not sure if I agree.

There are a few mentions n Northerners thread about her parents coming to stay and I can not for the life of me figure out what makes one middle class or working class - I go to work so IMO I am working class - Is this right????

I used to work as a wedding co-ordinator and came accross lots of silly names:

Annette Booth who was marrying Mark Curtain. She became Annette Curtain. I jest not!

There was acouple who's surname was Death, but they put an apostrophe in it so it became Mr & Mrs De'ath. And you had to pronounce it Deeeeath, or they lost it with you.

There was a Gill (can't remember her maiden name) but she married a Mr Gill and became Gill Gill!

Also one couple who were getting married and the guy was taking his wives name as his surname was Pig and she REFUSED to become Mrs Pig.

ROFL

ooh, northerner, was annette curtain a legal secretary in london? I used to work with an annette curtain. can't remember if her husband was mark though.
Knew a girl called Henrietta who got engaged to a guy whose surname was House. Luckily she didn't go through with it or she would have been Hen House...

Princesspeahead - no she was an estate agent in Leeds. God that means there are at least 2 Annette Curtains out there.

Hen House - LOL
Henrietta House - LOL

CUSTY IS COMING TO VISIT ME ON FRIDAY!!!! You'd better get a good nights sleep Thursday mate, don't want you falling asleep at the wheel!

I used to get the p**s taken out of me at school over my surname, and I hated it, especially at one particular time of the year! But when I started working, people would remember me because of my surname so it actually worked in my favour. Now I wish that I hadn't taken dh's name and kept hold of my own, as I feel all plain and ordinary now!
