Mine do, with 2 boys they would be holey within a fortnight if they went out on bikes etc in their uniforms.

vickiyumyum · 06/09/2005 19:03

No, but mainly because they go to either a childminder or their nans after scholl and don't get home until about 6p.m and so they come home, homework, bath and bed, just change the polo shirt and underwear each day and trousers as and when they are dirty!

Nightynight · 06/09/2005 19:06

only in the evenings at home Enid. Not undies of course. We are not talking filth here, just a few spots of dinner most of the time.

Enid · 06/09/2005 19:07

I just couldnt do it sorry. But that says more about me than about you

Tinker · 06/09/2005 19:09

No. Agree with the less washing posters.

fresh clothes every day means that children don't get low level exposure to germs, and is thought to be a contributing factor to the rise in asthma (I believe)

Nightynight · 06/09/2005 19:15

out of curiosity, what do you find so bad about clothes that have been worn before (if not v dirty of course)? Do you change sheets and pyjamas every day too (much sweating in the night)?

milosmum · 06/09/2005 19:16

my son has asthma and, believe me, im no clean freak. i understand the theory behind that but personally think theres alot more to it..

Jimjams · 06/09/2005 19:17

ds1's uniform is a t-shirt and sweatshirt (doesn't have to wear it, but different colour for each day of the week). Anything on bottoms. If he gets dirty at school they change him and wash and dry his clothes and send them home all folded (having checked whether biological washing powder is ok or not). Couldn't believe it first time I was sent a freshly laundered pile of clothes home (following a nose bleed).

QueenOfQuotes · 06/09/2005 19:19

gooodness yes - only DS1's first day of school today - but there's no way I'm letting him have an extra 4 1/2hrs to trash his uniform at home!

milosmum · 06/09/2005 19:20

god jimjams- where does he go to school- i could do with that! think i could sent a sack of washing to you....?

QueenOfQuotes · 06/09/2005 19:21

oh and I should add that DS1 will be tomorrow wearing the trousers and jersey he wore today......oddly his polo shirt (which was 'hidden' under the jersey all afternoon) DOES need washing as it's dirty

Jimjams · 06/09/2005 19:22

one time they sent stuff home wet and put a note in apologising for not having time to dry it! oh god I love his school.

milosmum · 06/09/2005 19:24

jimjams- i need to send my son to that school!!!!!! i would nt have to wash i thing- id send him in something different ever day! Lucky lady!

nah it's a special school milosmum - which is why its so fantastic. washing machines all over the place. They also -I don't know- tend to try and make parent's lives easier however they can. It has a very different atmosphere from a mainstream school ime. Ds2's/ds3's school won't be like that!

milosmum · 06/09/2005 19:34

i still think thats great jimjams- clearly it does make life a bit easier!

Twiglett · 06/09/2005 19:36

Hey Jimjams .. and there was you thinking that they laid on the washing machines for his total fascination .. little did you know they actually used the buggers

I know - they have one off his classroom- luckily the door has a high handle. I suspect he sneaks a look when he goes to the toilet he he.

Tortington · 06/09/2005 19:40

yes yes always yes. first thing they do get changed hang it up...hang it in the living room where i can see its hung up - with tie

shoes in the corner in the living room becuase i cant tell you how many mornings my youngest son cant find one bleedin shoe.

pe kit gets took in on monday and left there all week

all school stuff in a see through plastic box with their name on it.

and still i get called into school for wrong soes, no tie, no books, always no pen. but i do mi best.

i think if they change intot heir own clothes and get them dirty you can wash at YOUR leisure. if they get spag bol down their shirt - you have to wash i t for morning.

magnolia1 · 06/09/2005 20:55

Sometimes yes sometimes no

If we come straight home then yes, If we go to my mums etc... then no

I am not bothered either way as long as they have a clean uniform in the morning whether its one that has stayed clean (mricles do hapen!!) Or a clean one from wardrobe.
