Or do you find it a bit sickening?

I suppose I'm talkin about partners, DC, family, friends, friend's DC etc

Ones I hear a lot and that spring to mind are

Boy
Girl
Man
Woman
Pickle
Princess
Prince
Honeypie
Sausage
Poppet
Pumpkin
Love
Dear
Dearie

i overuse 'sausage' on ds1 and ds2 (and amuse myself by asking them 'sausage, sausage?' at appropriate supper times, and indeed 'muffin, muffin?' in costa coffee, even at 8 and 2 they know this is not as hilarious as i find it).

I use poppet all the time, generally on friends of ds1/ds2 who i'm fond of.

I have also taken to calling dd 'bunny' which no doubt she will find incredibly annoying by the time she's 7.

LadySanders · 23/08/2010 21:49

my ex FIL used to call me 'girl' in a sort of affectionate cockney way which always set my teeth on edge

loopyloops · 23/08/2010 21:50

Yes, all the time:

Poppet, pumpkin and love to DD

Poppet, love and dear to everyone, male and female friends and even PILS.

nappyaddict · 23/08/2010 21:52

See I call DS Boy and would call a DD Girl. But no other children or adults.

scurryfunge · 23/08/2010 21:52

I use "lovey" for my DS but no others.

BelleDameSansMerci · 23/08/2010 21:52

Call DD Poppet all the time... None of the others.

LadySanders · 23/08/2010 21:53

ooh, and 'sugarplum' i use that on dh AND kids. multipurpose. i am in fact very annoying.

said · 23/08/2010 21:53

I like poppet. I use bunny as well Blush For children, not partners, I hasten to add.

Mung · 23/08/2010 21:55

I'm guilty of ausage and pickle with my own DCs and my lovely to other children. I never use any of those with adults though.

CatIsSleepy · 23/08/2010 21:56

i use lots and lots of nicknames and terms of endearment for my own dc, might use lovey or sweetheart for other people's dc

ArseHolio · 23/08/2010 21:56

Poppet sausage pookie pumpkin maggot possum chicken etc are all fair game Grin

CatIsSleepy · 23/08/2010 21:57

or pickle
Grin

SacharissaCripslock · 23/08/2010 21:57

Pickle
Prince
Sausage
Poppet
Pumpkin
Love

Those are the ones I'd use, but only for children.

morethanyoubargainfor · 23/08/2010 22:01

i use sausage for my ds 7 always have done, i also have lots of others for him and he doesn't seem to mind!

He used to be known as peanut!!!

serenity · 23/08/2010 22:18

Girlie - DD sometimes, and certain friends via text when I want to be annoying
Princess - DD sometimes
Sausage - DD sometimes as it makes me laugh when she pouts and claims she isn't one...

Apart from that I'll use sweetheart on random kids at work, nicely when they're lost or need help, and with gritted teeth when they're being pita and I have to ask them to stop doing things Grin

DCs are generally a mix of ratbags and monsters, and to my horror I find myself calling 6yo DD baby/babygirl when she's tired and cuddly. Having a girl made me soppy.

LauraNorder · 23/08/2010 22:21

Prince
Princess
Sausage
Poppet

I would use these on the DCs. I also use - chicken for some reason Confused

MrsKitty · 23/08/2010 22:24

I use Lovely Boy/Lovely Girl on the DC.

Also, another user of 'Chicken' Grin

QueeferSutherland · 23/08/2010 22:26

Lovie
Sausage
Poppet; everyone, particularly colleagues.Blush

DS1 is "The Boy".

I use Darling all the time.

preghead · 23/08/2010 22:26

Only some of them for my dc - maybe poppet for someone elses - none for any fully grown adult.

Fluteyboots · 23/08/2010 22:26

Sausage, popsie, gremlin, peepie, boo - all to ds
Dh is darling or sweetie, but mainly just his name.

Nobody else!

Notyetamummy · 27/08/2010 19:29

Nope, none off your list.

I do call children sweetie, darling and occasionally call boys 'little man'. They are relatives.

I call my husband Hogface. This came from hedge-hog face as his face is prickly when he forgets to shave.

He calls me Wumbum. It was woman, then wum now wumbum.

My mum calls me picklebum.

ChippyMinton · 27/08/2010 19:35

Pickle. Actually Picklepants Blush

Er..that's it off your list.

MrsBadger · 27/08/2010 19:40

from your list I call dd 'poppet'
I also call her 'kitten; and 'mittens' and sojetimes 'muffin'

Surprise · 27/08/2010 19:41

DS gets called Sausage and Monkey and sweetheart. DD (much older) is sweetheart or her nickname. Would never refer to adults by any pet names, particuarly not "hun" or "babe" which I find particularly nauseating.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/08/2010 19:45

I call mine things like

chuff (until it occured to me what else that means Blush)

buggerlugs
claptrap von shpill der beans Hmm
bug
bugger
doodlebug
hunnybunny (pron hunney bun-neigh) Hmm
(examples off the top of my head. I have no set 'pet names', just open my mouth and different rubbish seems to pour out each time Blush)

I once called my neice 'my little purple butt monkey' Hmm (I think I'd been watching bruce almighty Grin

I don't know why these stupid things come out of my mouth, tbh.

I am slightly insane, I think.

I agree.

Wink

Still, at least it's not boring, I suppose. Hmm
