DH used washing up liquid in the kids bath last week cos we'd run out of bubble bath - then moaned at them because they were complaining of sore eyes. Didn't tell them he'd put WUL in and ask them to be careful, oh no

He'd done a lot worse, I'm sure. It'll come back to me..

Well........... there was the time I went shopping for an outfit for DS's Christening, first time I had left him with anyone for more than an hour in five months.

And........ he was still in the same nappy when I got back 5 hours later, I went up and forgot to come down (ballistic)

He never forgot again.

My xp gave ds aged 2 1/2 a spare bic so they could both 'shave' together. Stitches weren't recquired but there was a lot of blood.
There are other incidents, but I think that was the crowning idiocy - is it any wonder he's now 'ex'?

my word.... my DH sounds like an angel!

Turned his back on her whilst she was happily on the floor playing with crayons and paper. He was playing a computer game and finally looked up when she said, 'Oh dear!' She'd drawn ALL over one of the walls, the heater, the TV, etc.

My dh once showed me how to change a wheel on my car.
Only problem was he put it on the wrong way and it came off when I was driving to work .
He swears it wasn't deliberate.

Dp once left our ds outside our local spar(just round the corner)when he was 6m old in his pram. He arrived home and I asked who had taken ds off his hands for a walk, he stared at me shouted f**k and ran out the door and came back with a happy baby! Thank goodness! He said he hadn't taken ds into the shop because he was just nipping in!

Two years ago we went on holiday to Ibiza with dd who was then 2.6 yo and ds who was then 6 mo. We took a double buggy. We went to see an aquarium (mm it wasn't really) and you had to walk along a cliff top with no barriers. We remarked how unsafe it was. On the way back I was walking ahead holding on to dd with dh pushing the buggy. I turned round and he had left the buggy on the cliff edge while he took photos. I screamed at him and he realised what he had done - 1 gust of wind and goodbye ds He's done more but I'm not thinking about it for now.

Yesterday we were on a steam train for Grandad's birthday. Grandad had hired the observation carriage so we were all going back and forth along the line. At one point I got out for a stroll along the platform with my sister. Dh KNEW he was looking after ds (2). I turned round to see ds climbing down from the carriage on his own. Dh was too busy playing with his camcorder to even notice where ds had gone! Thank God I was close enough to grab ds - he could have fallen onto the platform, even worse he could have fallen between the train and the platform. Dh's response was 'oh, I didn't know the door was unlocked'. How the hell did he think people had got off the train in the first place? Durrrrr....

frannyf · 29/08/2005 16:11

This one is just silly compared to most of the earlier posts, but it still makes me laugh. We sleep on a futon mattress on the floor and I once went upstairs to find dp (with much difficulty as it is very heavy) turning it round on the floor. I asked him what he was doing and he said the sheet didn't fit on it the other way round....?

starshaker · 29/08/2005 16:14

my dp let dd play with a black bag an hour ago (shes 5 months) said she liked it

Ds now has a big bruise and scraped skin all down his forehead and his nose. Because I stupidly let dh supervise in the garden while I got on with some work (on the computer, indoors). Sigh...

edam · 29/08/2005 19:09

I mean, you'd think after letting ds escape from a train yesterday, he'd be paying attention? Wouldn't you?

Carla · 29/08/2005 19:15

Marry me.

janeybops · 29/08/2005 19:25

My DH picked up the car seat that 12 weeks old dd was in without strapping her in. She fell out and landed on her head on the pavement...

juicychops · 29/08/2005 19:33
  1. Got drunk on a london pub crawl and got in an argument on the train on the way home. ended up jumping off the train at the next station without knowing where he was, climbed over the spiked fence and cut his finger off!
2. Havin an affair
fqueenzebra · 29/08/2005 19:35

I fell out of a car (stationary) when I was 6 months old. My mother read my dad the riot act, about how she'd warned him that I was rolling, etc.

Thing is, this was 1968, and I was probably loose in the backseat (no carseats) on every journey. All that guilt my dad felt, but you think of the bigger risk they were taking that they didn't even realise.

Mealtimes with 3 children under 6 are messy, many spills. DH keeps sending DS1 for "a cloth" from the kitchen. DS1 comes back with a tea towel or similar & gets told off... why? Because DH really meant get the sponge! Why can't he say "sponge"??

pesha · 29/08/2005 19:57

When dd was about 6 months old i went out for a couple of hours one evening and came home to find he'd drawn a moustache on her in biro and generally doodled all over her face I mean WTF, what would make you even think of doing that?!

He's now ex btw

CaptainCavemansMummy · 29/08/2005 20:22

Thankfully nothing too drastic (yet!)
However, dh recently put a load of washing on and was convinced the machine was faulty because the dial didn't end up where it started from (ie. pointing to programme no.4). The clothes got washed approx. 5 times in one day because he kept moving the dial on again . (shows how often he uses the machine!!)
