I have one of dd about 3/4 months old surrounded in feathers just as you walk through the door and then up the stairs we have one of me, dh and dd at her christening and a picture I got in Greece of Olive Trees.

Pretty boring really.

Three original watercolours of Scotland and Yorkshire and a cross stitch sampler I made which says "Everyone brings joy to this house - some when they enter, others when they leave."

A mirror in an oak frame in the hall plus a painting of some monks doing mending their habits.
At the top of the stairs we have a print of Louis Armstrong sitting on some stairs smiling his beautiful smile - big jazz fan!
Some David Roberts prints on the landing.
Also got DD's hand and foot in a frame (not her real hand and foot you understand...)

You tend not to look very much at the ones on the stairs, unless it is at the end of a corridor, or at the end of the stair well. So, I have my favourite painting on the end of the stair well, so that we see it every time we go down the stairs. On the walls, which I dont really look at a lot, I have an engraving that dx didnt like, and some prints that he bought that I dont really like. Also, in a dark spot, I have a few watercolours, so that they wont spoil in the sunlight.

Im an ex artist, so I take all this stuff very seriously

Have a few Freddie Mercury limited edition pictures,100 queen stamps(framed)and a couple more in the bedroom too.the rest are in the loft as dh would probably divorce me if i put anymore up.

There are also some wedding piccies.

dizzymama · 31/08/2005 18:53

A couple of incredibly nice water colours done by a brilliant artist friend. They're yummy

bambi06 · 31/08/2005 18:56

b/w pictures of my kids . can anyone tell me if its expensive to have piccies blown up large to hang on walls in photo shops etc?

pootlepod · 31/08/2005 18:59

milosmum · 31/08/2005 19:06

Nothing at the mo - we need to decorate. (has been like this since we moved in 6 years ago! We've done everywhere else though!)

However, we have 4 limited ed prints of Guiness adverts from the 1930s which we bought years ago to put up the stairs. One day (Prob not in current house) this will happen!

i'm lucky, dh is a portrait artist. he painted me and our dd when she was 6 weeks old. its a bit of a harrowing image, but its supposed to be. everyone who is a parent would look at it and think 'i remember feeling like that'. dd has never been a good sleeper so i look extreamly tired. couldn't look at it for a year, but now have it on the landing. it was my first mother's day present.
