I actually had to go and look. A watercolour of tulips, the families handprints on an a 3 sheet in rainbow colours, framed, and a watercolour of our basset hound when she was a pup. My mum was an artist.

Frightening that I had to go and look before I was sure. I guess dh is right and I do go around with my eyes closed.

oh, and going up the stairs there are lots of dirty marks and handprints

ff...that's it: that's exactly as i imagined....beautiful...

gingernut · 28/08/2005 23:31

We have this which we chose because it goes with our decor. But we have great fun asking anyone who comes to the house if they can work out what it is a picture of. We get a lot of differnet answers! (we had no idea when we bought it that anyone would have any trouble identifying the subject).

fairyfly · 28/08/2005 23:31

I'm saving up for a thrown

gingernut · 28/08/2005 23:34

We also have a lot of paintings by this artist who happens to be a relative of mine.

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 23:48

we have two nice ikea mirrors, plus printouts of pictures dp did on the pc..we only paid £5 ish for each one and then got nice frames

i would reccomend doing the same instead of buying expesive shop printss and repro's you can take any picture on a disk to a print shop and get a blown up image of it
and at least you know your neighbour/friend won't have the same one she got in ikea/argos etc!

sparklymieow · 28/08/2005 23:50

I have nothing...... just a mirror.

nightowl · 29/08/2005 00:08

just decorating my hall so at present its adorned with patches of filler...but hallway is where nice family pictures are going (proper portraits of course in natural kind of frames.

CountessDracula · 29/08/2005 00:19

I have an oil by Lawrence Wright of the fair in the town where I grew up. Plus a framed poster I nicked from a supermarket in Haro (Rioja) which was advertising the Fiesta and a load of photos by Malou Ericsson which she has given us over the years as xmas and bday cards.

Skribble · 29/08/2005 00:44

We have signed gig posters and laminate passes.

fairyfly · 29/08/2005 00:50

nightowl · 29/08/2005 00:52

Mytwopenceworth · 29/08/2005 08:18

My sister paints - she is bril! We've got her work up all over. On the stairs we've got a purple flower on a yellow background - it's a modern looking work and the colour contrast looks very dramatic! We've also got a 4=pic one, which is 4 faces on black, in separate frames, hung together, sort of distressed looking - I mean the paintwork, not the expressions!! Also a couple of abstracts and one which is really really fab you look at it and you just sense lonelyness!

And my all time fave - a funny one of a big can of guinness, next to the can is a pint glass with the contects of the can, in the glass, hanging over the edge, is a dazed looking green frog with bulbous red eyes! Makes me smile every time I look at it.

fqueenzebra · 29/08/2005 22:44

Right now we have nothing... just don't care.
I used to have some prints by Chagall & Van Gogh. That would be my dream, to own an original Chagall.

Tommy · 29/08/2005 23:18

We have "old" photographs of my family - both my grandparents' wedding photos, my Mum and my dad when they were babies etc. One day, I will get around to putting some of DH's family up there too!

BadHair · 29/08/2005 23:33

My landing has massive framed prints of the kids' pictures, just brushstrokes and handprints really, but really bright and lovely.
Stairs only has a framed collage that ds1 made for the invites for his third birthday party, but I have a set of art nouveau prints that I might one day get round to putting up, or my huge Jamie Hewlett artwork poster that I might one day get round to framing.
Hallway has nothing at the moment as we've only just finished decorating it, but I keep meaning to fill it up with all the studio and b&w pics we have of the dses. And a 1920s mirror that's lurking dangerously on the landing waiting to be dealt with.

aloha · 29/08/2005 23:39

Used to have black and white photographs framed in black of me as a baby, dh as a boy, lots of ds, our wedding, dsd as a baby and as our bridesmaid. Some of them taken by photographer friends some commissioned. They aren't up yet as we've just move and thinking what to do. Atm just have a 1940s Picasso lithograph of a woman in a headscarf - very beautiful, not at all abstract. Bought years ago from the Islington Art Fair.

motherinferior · 31/08/2005 17:06

Cloth print of Hanuman the Hindu monkey god at the top of the stairs.

MascaraOHara · 31/08/2005 17:09

I used to have 3 (tasteful) pen and ink sketches of a naked woman.
