Would anyone like a cup of tea and a muffin?

I'm tired and in need of refreshment.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

Nonshensh, daishy, I love you and all the other cushtomersh in the tea shop.

Mellorsh hash only reshenently joined the shtaff of the tea room so we shall ashk him to get to work on the garden tomorrow. I think we will take him off the firsht aidersh rota, though, ash it doesh sheem to be getting rather out of hand ....

mistlethrush · 27/11/2008 22:02

No, that's my job - I'm very good at rescuing the aspidistra - as you well know!!!!

Hey, pass the champers - are there any ends of bottles anywhere?

Mellors is quite decorative isn't he. Mind you, I think ds's suggestive rolls were quite decorative too............

Daisy - sorry about your friend. And that you won't get there for the funeral. One of my bosses is currently v. ill - we really don't know what to do as he's in the hospital that we can see from work, but really too ill to see anyone - and his immune system is shot too so, in some ways, the fewer people that might go in carrying things, the better... Its very difficult to know what to do. Re your friend, I would make sure that you give yourself an alloted time to say goodbye as you won't be there for the funeral. Hopefully this will give you some time to remember the good times as you would want to remember them. xxx for tomorrow (sorry, v. unmn)

BoccaDellaVerita · 27/11/2008 22:08

Daisy - I'm sorry that in all the larking about I didn't say anything about your friend. It's awful to lose a friend. Mistlethrush's advice about saying goodbye is excellent. ((Hug)) for tomorrow.

daisy99divine · 27/11/2008 22:08

Mistle, thanks, yes, I am feeling very upset and wondering why and I think it is in part that formal gathering to say goodbye to someone. He wasn't close enough for my whole world to have been turned upside down, and was work colleague so nobody at "home" knows him but we were friends and I need that space to sort of spend time saying goodbye. so if I do miss funeral, as seems likely, I think I will go to the church on my return and just sit there for a bit

(by the way, cafe has suspended no mnet emotion thing, we kiss and hug when needed so thanks!)

LOL at paint colours. A friend has taupe, rope, mushroom and mould in her house - they are all shades of brown to me!!!

BoccaDellaVerita · 27/11/2008 22:10

paint colours - we have razzle dazzle and angelica leaf, amongst other things!

daisy99divine · 27/11/2008 22:15

Oh Bocca! I was about to drag you behind the poor old aspidestra
glad you ahve revived!

Cmot, you must have moved a lot if DS is still only 2.6??

and where is T42 has she had more run ins with the busies!?

(LOL at DS who said "Look mummy it's the pigs" at police on JM's bad parenting thread!)

mistlethrush · 27/11/2008 22:24

Ds comes out with 'you stupid woman / man' regularly in the car depending upon the circumstances

cmotdibbler · 27/11/2008 22:25

DH and I have been married for 11.5 years, and have lived in 4 houses in that time. DS has only lived in the 2. So we haven't moved that much, but seem to be destined to move from one side of the country to the other every 5 years or so.

As a scummy mummy the curtains were in my room originally, but as they are good curtains with blackout linings they got reused. I will get him some curtains that look like they are for a child soon I promise

mistlethrush · 27/11/2008 22:33

That is one of the new things in ds's room- I found some lovely denim coloured curtains with apliqued animals (yellow and blue curtains with animals - thought it would suit boy or girl!)

Jacksmama · 27/11/2008 22:34

Daisy, hugs and kisses for you for losing your friend.
(Love the blatant thumbing of noses disregard and sticking out of tongue at MN anti-hugging policy)

daisy99divine · 27/11/2008 22:39

Oh Cmot
don't worry about the curtains, I still sport a pair that my Mum had made when she was first married and gave me when I "set up home" at 18!!!
our DS has fine bedroom curtains from a second hand shop courtesy of Americans with large "moving" budgets doing up homes every 2 years. They're fab and lined and everything, but since DS still sleeps in our bed he's not had the full benefit yet!

Jacksmama · 28/11/2008 03:19

Do any of you do yoga? I used to, before I had BabyJ - now need to wait to have my little repair done and be cleared for exercise... but there is this hilarious video I was sent the other day:
This is hilarious!! You all need to see!!

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 15:54

thank you for all your well wishing

amazingly i did get away from my meeting in time so have just been to the funeral. It was sad and good, and I learnt things about my friend I didn't know, heh ho

Will just curl up here for a bit

Do you mind if I switch on the lava lamp a bit early? it's soothing isn't it

racingsnake · 28/11/2008 15:56
racingsnake · 28/11/2008 16:11

Actually , we have in our household curtains my parents made when they were setting up house in the late 50s. Still going strong, although a bit faded.

Curtains, not parents, although one of them still going strong too, if slow and a bit creaky.

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 16:32

'Lo Racingsnake

Daisy puts out one deft hand and cathes RacingPig and puts the honsety box back on the side board

I didn't realise you were so keen on twiglets you wanted ones preloved by the Racingpig - fancy a muffin? Racing

Your Wrigglesnake looks very happy out there, look, Daisyboy and Daisydog have just gone to join in the high jinks!

good news re curtains and parents. My parents have won in that particular race. Their curtains are definitely more droopy

Jacksmama · 28/11/2008 16:37

Hi Daisy - ((((HUGS)))) for you!

Daisy, stop staring at the lava lamp, you'll hypnotize yourself, darling!

Jacksmama · 28/11/2008 16:49

Am so excited, the installer is here putting in my gorgeous new kitchen counter tops!!!

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 17:13

heh Jackdude! glad about the counter tops! take that tablecloth off from around your neck and enjoy the coffee!!

Could you pour me another cuppa while you're up?

Jacksmama · 28/11/2008 17:16

Here you go!

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 17:31

Now watch out I remember that T42 has a bit of a penchant for Cath Kidston, you had better get Wriggle and Daisyboy to dig a large hole in the garden and stuff it in! (making sure of course no chinchillas or racingpig or Dastardly or Muttley settle in hole first!)

by the way where IS T42 - perhaps she is back upstairs in that top room writhing with glee over the Cath Kidston catalogue

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 17:31

... possibly with Mellors.....

daisy99divine · 28/11/2008 17:32

BTW my DS said Cat- O - Log with great seriousness appropriate for such a Long and Difficult Word
