The mystery of the lost shoes and trousers and other having one child true stories!

On another thread a few of us got chatting about bringing up one child, and because we don?t know that many people who also have just one child, in rl, we thought it would be fun to set up joint diaries of what it is like to bring up one! Share our funny stories, worries, delights, over-sentimental navel-gazing and offer some support in our only child decision or circumstance!

In case you are wondering - The title of the thread is inspired by these sentences uttered by daisy99malign ! ?

?DH and DS had day together today and had a wonderful time - they lost shoes and trousers (some of each) and got wet and muddy and had a Top Boy Day.?

Then later?

?DH lost shoes and DS lost trousers
something to do with washing the car - but I don't really want to know!?

What do you think??? Shall we give it a go???

We seem to have let this thread slide into obscurity because most of are too busy finding our inner selves in the cafe .
Don't have anything funny or mysterious to report... am rather tired as DS has been nursing lots at night... growth spurt, perhaps...

oh, a thread in chat eh Bocca?

Don't you know most of us as much too old to go chasing around for funny stories?

I am still liking the one about JM and her DS doing slurpy kisses....

Right, new story, my DS came to have lunch wtih me at work on Thursday- marches in saying "meeting with Mummy" and brings his little suitcase of farm animals with him - the required acoutrement for meetings obviousyl

The odd thing is I never take a briefcase to work with me

Jacksmama · 18/11/2008 16:52

Good morning all!!
DS has started to say "mama"!!! I know he has!! Well, it comes out more as "mamamamama" most of the time, but he's also thoroughly in that "mummy only", separation-anxiety stage, so he's been crawling up to me at top speed, holding out his little arms and saying "mamamamama", so I think that qualifies. Melts my little heart when I'm home... breaks my little heart when I'm minutes away from having to walk out the door to go to work! It's probably as hard on me to have to leave as it is on him, so I found myself snarking at DH when he asked what time I'd be home .

daisy99divine · 18/11/2008 17:39

Bless him, it's definitely mamamamam for you!

daisy99divine · 18/11/2008 17:39

BTW, snarking is a brilliant word (almost as brilliant as cnut) I know I do it, just didn't know it had a name! LOL

BoccaDellaVerita · 18/11/2008 18:22

Cnut was a Viking king of York, doncha know. Not a rude anagram at all.

I really feel for those of you who are still going through that starting at nursery/returning to work stage. It does get easier for both of you, I promise!

daisy - yes, I have been dabbling in chat, as I contributed to a funny thread in gifted and talented which then got very heated and bad-tempered - sound familiar to anyone? - so we then carried on the silliness in chat, where there's the added benefit that it'll be deleted in 3 months and won't hang around forever to embarrass us.

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 00:33

I am not sure about the separation thing, my DS is 2.4 and I still get upset leaving him at bedtime!
and we co-sleep

Jacksmama · 19/11/2008 00:37

AWWWWW!! That is so sweet!!!!!

Today's story. At coffee/ milk time down our way DH was reading DS a story that DS had chosen. DH was sitting on the sofa reading out loud and getting quite engrossed.

DS on the other hand is running round and round the kitchen - from sofa to me at the kettle end of things and back

I say "DS are you reading a lovely story with Daddy"

DS: "No mummy. Daddy reading. DS just running!!!!"
