Hi Everyone.

My little only turns 4 in July. She loves going on rides. I am hoping to take her to a theme park!

Only problem is I have no idea which one is best for 4 year olds.

She's pretty tall.. prettier sure she's about 110cm. I know height restrictions will be in place.

Do I go for....

  • Alton towers/cbeebies land
  • Thorpe park (not sure if they have a you get kids section)
  • Chessington world of adventures
  • Drayton Manor
  • Paultons park

I would really appreciate ant input! Thanks so much!!

My 4 year old’s favourite place in the world is legoland! Thorpe park is definitely for much older kids.

Sundown Adventureland if you're nearish.

It's a bit worn out in places but our almost 4 year dd loves the place.

I absolutely agree that you should take her during term time as it won’t be as busy. Legoland and other places (Paultons I think?) also do a deal for a parent and pre-schooler which is less than the price of an adult ticket- £29 I think. If she likes that bloody pig, then peppa pig land at Paultons is great for littles.

Yes I can't imagine how you'd do cebebbies in a morning!they have characters shows on all day!it's great for down time like the character shows,Mr tumbles sensory garden, duggees epic park.its great for food like the all you can eat pizza pasta bar, theres mutiny bay kids love with pirate stuff lots and cloud cuckoo land as well as runaway train pp mentioned theres just loads!and so clean and organised with lots of toilets its just ideal for kids

We've just done alton and drayton. Both are pretty similar as owned by same company. Drayton you've got Thomas land and alton cbeebies land. Mine enjoyed both about the same amount. Altons just wins for the shows they have. Altons have friendlier staff too. Drayton they all sat about bitching with faces like slapped arses.

Doing chessington next month 😁

LotsOfBalloons · 04/06/2023 11:06

Ah mine were slightly older so didn't do the shows... and also we went on a quiet day and didn't queue which makes all the difference at alton towers! On days when they were a bit older we'd pop into cbeebies for octonaughts and night garden and leave, but yes theres more a 4 year old would like. I wouldn't take small kids there on any busy day though. Octanuaghts can be an hour and that's no fun with small kids.

Paulton's is fantastic. As well as Peppa Pig World there's a dinosaur section, loads of other rides that will be perfect for her, two splash parks, loads of playground, soft play, mini zoo, pirate show etc.

At 1.1m I think she'd be able to go on pretty much anything, maybe just one or two rollercoaster type rides that might be too old.

SomeNights · 04/06/2023 11:12

If you take her before her actual birthday, some of the rides you have to be over a height and over four so if you're asked how old she is say she's four. ;)

We had merlin passes for many years and I'm pretty sure Drayton manor isn't Merlin (we've never been there) so although similar they aren't owned by the same people! And as much as we love Merlin the queues are soul destroying. There's days where we've been say for 3 or 4 days in a row and as passholders aren't paying for tickets so don't worry as much - but really felt for people who d come for a day and then just had hour long queues for each ride. Its worth very careful planning to avoid queues as a day with 4 or 5 rides and a lot of queueing isn't fun at any age.

We still cheat and go to paultons though occasionally as it is such a lovely park.

CottonSock · 04/06/2023 11:15

Paultons definitely. She can go on the peppa pig stuff and splash park but also the older rides.

Gabbies · 04/06/2023 11:17

If your DD likes faster rides then there is quite a bit at Alton towers if she’s over 110cm, even more at 120cm. Plus CBeebies land so it’s a good option.

If it’s just rides then sundown is a good option too. Depends if she’s a thrill seeker or not

Drusillas is the perfect day out for a 4 year old

It really is great there but no rides that op said her child enjoys.

It had some rides when I went, but that was a couple of years ago - have they closed them?

HappiDaze · 05/06/2023 07:29

Drusillas does have rides, and loads more to keep a 4 Yr old busy and very entertained. Well worth visiting if you've never been before

HappiDaze · 05/06/2023 07:31

It also has an outdoor large paddling pool with a lovely grassy area for those hot sunny days
