Tearoom 35: Sun, sea and sand...

This breathtakingly beautiful island has unspoilt powdery white sand beaches, crystalline turquoise waters that wash over pristine coral reefs, and verdant green rainforest.

Scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing trips are available and you can discover the island's charms on foot (with or without Mellors the guide) by mountain bike or private island buggy.

For those in need of pampering the spa offers a selection of luxurious treatments to soothe and heal both body and soul.

For dining, enjoy a freshly prepared meal at the tearoom, a picnic on the beach, or a delicious dinner in the oceanfront restaurant with its stunning sea views. There is Wine, Brew and good company, everybody is welcome.

MC got used to sitting on his potty at bedtime (before bath) and having a story whilst sitting (that was a regular nappy filling time anyway) and it got him used to the concept of sitting for a bit and doing something (although I'm now a bit Hmm about the reading as he'll sometimes take AGES on the loo in the evening and you go up and find he's smuggled a book in and has read most of it rather than get on with it, have a bath and then read in bed...). But he was really quite small when he was doing this.

We also had a padded loo seat that dropped onto the loo which helped too - more comfortable and less cold I think....

I'm sure he'll get it, just not today.

Now you remind me, yes, boy was "used " to sitting on his potty before we potty trained. He (like MC) was a regular kind of boy , so I got into the habit of parking him on the potty for a bit after breakfast while I read a story, saved a bit of washing.

We are currently fighting the dreaded thumbsucking with the aid of YET ANOTHER sticker chart. We have been here before... its not going well so far. Dentist visit in a week, I don;t want to have report that he's going backwards... but I may have too

He's been on the loo seat/toilet almost every day since we brought the toilet seat home. Perhaps I need to get him on it bare-bottomed more (as in, once a day). I just hope today hasn't put him off.

Don't worry Scout, they all get there in the end and there's absolutely nothing to be gained by getting stressed over it. One of the things that Small Bean liked was the idea of being like Daddy to use the toilet. Not much fun for Mr Bean who probably preferred not to have an audience though Smile

Picked Small Bean up from school tonight and his first question was whether we could go out for tea. Phoned Mr Bean who was on his way home and we went for an impromptu Italian meal which was lovely!

Friday Wine anyone? I have a RL glass on the go. Does anyone have plans for the weekend?

I still love that he's called MrBean. Grin

No, definitely not worth getting stressed over -- him or me. And I was very calm, as was SB, until he got worked up about being put on the toilet again. He wants to be a big boy like daddy but he doesn't want to, if that makes sense. MrScout is used to the audience by now. He grumbles about it sometimes but my "I deal with it all day, every day, suck it up" usually shuts down his moans for a day or two.

Not sure what Saturday holds but Sunday we're going out for pizza with the Seniors. How about you?

I intend to sort some wood out this weekend, by thinning two of our trees in a big way... should keep us warm for a night or three next winter.

MIGHT go for a bike ride on sunday, or might not do, the waether forecast is rather wet, so I may wimp out. only done about 24 miles this week, not quite what I'm aiming for.

Morning Brew
We're having JB's birthday party today. It's going to be nuts. There might be as many as 25 to 30 kids there - all but two from his preschool class, and everyone of his little friends from outside preschool. I was thinking maybe half would RSVP and we'd have about 15. Shock Guess I was wrong. Some parents have to bring older or younger siblings and that's ok... but, wow. Fortunately it's not at ours I'm not that insane, it'll be at the little gym where he does karate, they do birthday parties and all the clean-up!!. Might need Wine after.

mistlehound enjoyed racing again today... only trouble is that she's fighting to get away from me at the start so much that she always has a bad start...

Is that dog racing as in chasing after a bundle of rag being wound in REALLY fast on a long line. bonkers mass start see which dog gets the rag first stylee. or is it more formal?

Lilac and Willow trees thinned out today. small pile of firewood, big pile of twiggy bits to shred in a week or two. Still have apple and elder to do. Neighbour is making noises about have 3 sycamores to get rid of... have said we would be happy to help.

UniS - we take over a (rather down at heel) greyhound racing 'stadium' (hahaha) and race round the track with a lure whizzing around the edge on a channel.... There will be simulated coursing later on in the year at some events, which we will also be trying with her! I now know why she's a failed worker - 'OOooh there's a stick, look it flies, and I can pounce on it and toss it again and pounce on it and .. oh you said squirrel - no, can't see that, Looook my STICK !!!!. If you get her to come to you (no, I'm not coming to you with my STICK) and hold her head and point her in the right direction, she sometimes manages to spot the squirrel..... Grin Not that that is a problem when racing - although she's so busy struggling to get away from me that she gets a really bad start and always leaves the start about 2 lengths behind the others anyway! (She doesn't care she's not first, and we're not worried - she loves taking part and the rest doesn't matter!!!)

JM, happy birthday to JB for tomorrow. Grin

SB and I went to the playground today. There was a bit of snow on it still -- SB was not impressed with it.

Gah. SmallBoy has pink eye again. This is the second time in his short life. I've only every had it once and that wasn't until I was 23/24. The GP thinks his never ending cold triggered it. Gah! He hates the drops and I'm so squeamish about eyes anyway....

MC is officially a cub sprout. I have first 3 badges to sew on (large sized sweatshirt)(I can't believe the size of sweatshirts some people have bought - hardly big enough now... I'm hopeful the one we've got might just last through....)

I'm sorry to hear that JM - are you all afflicted? I hope you feel better soon.

I remember when I was quite little (6?) my parents and I were all ill with something like that - and I got better before they did - and got sent off to the (quite nearby) small shop to buy wheetabix ... with a 50p and was told to get some chocolate with the change - was only 2p as it was an enormous box!!!

And my laptop is in the hospital with a pinched nerve cable that means the screen doesn't work.

What a week.

May I please have a new one?
