Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

mistlethrush · 08/05/2012 08:58

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

It's not a cold cure but should help raise the spirits a bit.

chin up JM.

hello tea room, I'm back fro my brief flirt with Olympic glory. No photos exist ( I hope) so all is well. May I just say that my idea to take my bike to work as my "Access all areas, working vehicle" was fab and made my weekend a LOT easier.

Now, whos for a some and a quick bounce about teh dance floor with mellors and teh NMBS.

Did you get to carry the torch Unis? Or watch it? No where near here yet. Although someone at work has been chosen to carry it through a part of their town....

Very tired DS here today - refused to go to sleep on the way home last night until I shouted at him.....

G&T anyone?

just watched. Tho my boss did get asked to " hold this a minute would you " and was handed a torch 1 minute after it was carried off stage.

I was looking after generators and other power at lots of "torch relay celebration " locations at nearby city that the torch stopped at over night.

Wow UniS! You had an Olympic role. Fantastic!

I did enjoy strutting my stuff with Mellors, just as I've been enjoying all the 70s nostalgia on the BBC. That song is a mainstay of our New Year's Eve parties with the neighbours and always gets people movin and a'groovin on the dance floor.

Envy at UniS's Olympic Role. You rock!

Does anyone know what sort of dirt/soil I should use to plant my tomatoes?

And do you think a black skirt, a light-weight grey three-quarter sleeves cardi (with flower pattern around the top) and a light/spring color tank-top (under the cardi) would be okay for an end-of-May wedding?

Are you planting them in garden soil or in a tub Scout? If the latter, you can get a good (ideally peat-free) grobag and empty the contents into a pot - or actually buy a bag of compost that says its potting -on compost and mentions things like bedding plants (usually you get more compost for your money if you go for the grobag option).

In a tub, MT. One of those fabric-y vegetable bags, actually. I have a couple of bags of the compost stuff that says for pots but wasn't sure if those were good for tomatoes in a pot/bag thing.

As long as they're fine for eg bedding plants, they should be fine. However, get a bottle of tomato feed and follow the instructions on it to help them along a bit more. If its a fabric bag, you'll probably find it dries out a bit on the sides so you might want to water small amounts pretty regularly.

Morning all!

JM, I hope that you are feeling a bit better.

Unis, your Olympic experience sounds like fun. I have booked a morning off to take Small Bean to see the Olympic torch when it comes through our town. He may not remember it but I feel that he should at least be able to say that he was there.

Scout - fwiw I would use a tomato grow bag and 'decant' it into your tubs. I tend to start mine off in a gro-bag and then they go into the ground but there's something in the bags that seems to give them a good start. After only a couple of days of sun the garden is beginning to look better and things are actually growing instead of just 'surviving'.

Brew is on the side...

There were some good hats and dresses as it was Ladies Day - but not quite that extreme. I came out around even - possibly slightly ahead and it was a good day albeit rather hot.

I should have borrowed one of the fascinators that the NMBs have redecorated the aspidistra with

The aspidistra is really looking rather festive! Do you think it is in honour of next weekend? There seems to be a bit of a theme to the colours..... Grin

Went to get a new suitcase with the YD today (one of our old ones died last year....)
'No, YD we are NOT choosing a suitcase because you like the lock...."
Repeat about 50 times.... then another 50.... then have to physically steer the whinging YD out of the shop... 'It's not fair. I like the lock on that one...'

Was sorely tempted to use said lock to fasten the YD into one of the cases and leave him....

Toddler seems to be stretching. He no longer looks like a Toddler Scout but a Boy Scout. It's lovely to see him growing up (a bit Sad too) but scary to notice that every morning he has grown over night.
