Episode 32 - The New Zealand tea room

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/01/2012 22:06

Well folks, here we are, beside the hot springs of New Zealand.

The tea room (with the customary distressed chintz sofa) overlooks the steaming, bubbling lake. For the bold and sporty, hiking, biking and sky-diving are on offer. Personally, I'm not planning to leave the spa.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly. The cardinal rule remains: no fisticuffs.

Aha, just saw that. Am standing by the (virtual) letter box, waiting!

I have the "Peppa Cochon" theme in my head. ARGH!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/01/2012 21:55

Argh, indeed! We need a better song. I thought of you earlier when the students in the remake of Fame sang at talent night.

Did we bring the glitterball with us when we moved?

I do enjoy a good Olly song.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/01/2012 22:36

To be honest, that's the only one I know.

I was introduced (not literally, sadly) to by my SiL.

He's good, too. Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/01/2012 22:47

I just looked him up. He's Canadian. Who knew? Everyone but me, obviously.

This is what YT thought I should listen to next

Glitterball is definitely here somewhere, I packed it myself :)

I've been over at the Nobdies' Birthday Party - it was wild!

Scout - hope you're feeling more on top of things now

CMOTD - that's a worry re. your mum :(

Hope all wobbly dads regain their stability - mine is, thankfully, not too bad still and very happy that we are coming over to see him again in March. I have had to make a wall chart for miniThumb to mark off the days until we leave - I'm hoping he'll get the idea that it's not "today?" every single day at some point!

I did smile at MrUniS and the Boy's book!

miniThumb will have his pony ride again in a couple of weekend's time - it's the local country show soon and they always have ponies to ride. When he's a little bigger I'll try and get him some lessons - I may have mentioned in here before that the local "school" aren't terribly helpful in the giving of information re. age he has to be and price of lessons, this year I'll make a note of the show-horse-lady's number and call her - she was far more use but I had no means of taking her number last time.

Scout19075 · 22/01/2012 07:15

OMG -- Toddler just pointed at the non-black cat (out of five cats, four of them are black and get the generic "cat" since I can't tell them apart) and called her by name! Shock Awwww, TodderBoy, that was lovely.

amberlight · 22/01/2012 10:03

Scout, heck re the broken blood. Have more Brew
CMOT, eek re manky parents...you'd better have Brew as well.
And since yesterday was National Hug Day, we might risk offering some general entirely appropriate hugs for those in need also.

Or a formal handshake or comforting pat on the shoulder/copy of What Glacier Weekly to read if preferred.

Scout19075 · 22/01/2012 14:11

My boys are building a Lego plane together. Grin How sweet.

UniS · 22/01/2012 18:25

ahhh, sweet lego building. My boys are tucked up on teh sofa, DH is reading the final chapter of " rusty the injured fox cub" aloud to boy. DH thinks this book is pants but he;'s been manfully ploughing through it for boy. I have a beast quest book lined for them on holiday.

UniS offers pats on teh shoulder to those who need them.

Jacksmania · 23/01/2012 15:05

Good morning all!
Taught my pregnancy yoga class last night, putting everything together that I've learned, and would like to report that I was just about wetting myself right before it seemed to go over really well .

How is everyone today? I seem to have missed National Hug Day but since I'm always 8 hours behind you lot, I'll just sneak one (((((HUG))))) in, especially for Scout and CMOT (I missed the possible cancer Dx fit your mum, I'm so sorry) and anyone else who needs them.

CMOTDibbler · 23/01/2012 18:54

Hurrah foir the good class Jm !

I'm finding it hard to get too worked up about mums investigations, which is awful really as I'm only too aware of the prognosis if they are positive. But compared to years of watching every bit that is her disappear... We used talk for hours on the phone, but this week she only talked for 6 minutes, 4 of which was her repeating on her fave subject (literally, she says this piece every conversation). Dad talked for 30 minutes though which is nice. We'll see what happens I suppose Sad
Off to Switzerland tomorrow, so will have an exotic night at an M40 services due to leaving at yuck o clock, then go from Switzerland to Finland on Weds, home Fri. DS has requested Moomin products

Donki · 23/01/2012 19:19

Excellent stuff JM - the first of many I hope!

I'm really sorry to hear about your Mum CMOT - Have a (((hug)))/manly pat on the shoulder/carrot/Wine (delete as required)

I found the tea room a good place to be sometimes when Dad had had his diagnosis....

Belated thanks to you all Thanks

Donki · 23/01/2012 19:21

It looks as though there might be Aurora Borealis visible from the UK tomorrow night - weather and Coronal Mass Ejection permitting.

No chance at the Donki Stable - too much light pollution :(

UniS · 23/01/2012 19:52

When Southampton is to the north of you.... sighting the northern lights seems very unlikely from the Chez Uni.

Donki · 23/01/2012 21:14

It would have to be a severe magnetic storm for aurora to be seen in the Uni household!

Jacksmania · 23/01/2012 21:54

And I think a storm of that magnitude (or should that be magnet-tude :o) might be a bit uncomfortable!

(You're welcome Donki.
And thanks to the tea room for putting up with me during my broken times.)

UniS · 23/01/2012 22:02

Have you all survived the storm that lashed your neck of the woods last week JM? looked like a LOT of snow.

Bodes well for holiday- the childcare team in resort just phoned to have a chat about boy, likes, dislikes, talk me through their timetable and meals etc.

Thumbwitch · 23/01/2012 23:18

JM - woohoo for good pregnancy yoga class! Glad you survived the rest of the course Wink
Do you get to see the Aurora borealis from where you live? I'd love to see it, or the Aurora australis, not fussed really, they're probably both as good as each other!

miniThumb hasn't really got the Lego bug yet for which I (and my feet) am very grateful but there's plenty of time!

It's cooled down again - I am very happy but it's a bit odd! - apparently we have 80% chance of rain every day for the next week.

Burns night soon - DH is picking up our haggis today - yippee! Fried haggis is so much nicer than boiled...
